BELIEVE IT OR NOT: ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER SAYS YOU SHOULD EAT LESS MEAT

Just say no to meat?!

A bodybuilder has to be jacked or else there’s no point in calling yourself one now is there. In order to get jacked you need to have the adequate amount of training, specified training that will lead to hypertrophy which is just a fancy way of saying creating a muscle building environment. Of course one of the biggest ingredients of making that muscle growth happen is by the consumption of the proper amount of macronutrients in order to have energy, absorb micronutrients, and build muscle. Carbs, fats, and proteins are the name of the game, all of them essential to the bodybuilder’s diet. But it’s that last one in particular a great deal of bodybuilding athletes harp on, many of them eating tons of protein in meat form. But it appears that it may not be the best direction for your health.

Now sure, it may sound like crap hearing it from the GI Team, but there’s a credible source that will back that statement up. None other than the seven time Mr. Olympia champion Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The former bodybuilder and Governor of California has officially gone on record stating that meat is something you should be eating less of. He doesn’t say you should stop eating protein, but using meat as the source should be slowed down a bit. When you consider the fact that there are so many protein related supplements on the market then you can perhaps find it more feasible to heed Schwarzenegger’s words.

Still aren’t buying it? Then take a look at the video below where The Austrian Oak explains his reasoning for eating less meat.

What are your go to sources of protein?
