BELLATOR 158 BREAKDOWN: DOUGLAS LIMA VS PAUL DALEY

lima vs daley headerExpect an explosive fight in London this weekend.

With all the UFC events taking place over the past week no one will blame you if you didn’t realize other MMA events were on the horizon. Well Bellator MMA is back and with a pretty sick card to boot. In the main event Paul Daley will meet former Bellator Welterweight Champion Douglas Lima. Lima hasn’t fought since losing his belt to Andrey Koreshkov less than a year ago. Paul Daley is undefeated in Bellator and is looking to take his winning streak to five. Of the two combatants, Douglas Lima is perhaps the faster kicker. He uses a nice switch kick with both legs and has some good timing on his punches. He’ll have to use his length and keep the powerful Daley at bay. Movement, feints, and some well timed leg kicks should help tremendously to not only throw Daley off of his game, but diminish his punching power as well. b86_8_douglas_lima_vs_michail_tsarev_055 Paul Daley is certainly the more potent puncher of the two Welterweights. He sets up many of his shots with feints, a variety of kicks, and forward pressure. Despite the fact that Lima may be the faster kicker, it doesn’t diminish Daley’s own aptitude at kicking. Everyone of Daley’s strikes have tremendous force behind them. Pressure is the name of the game for Daley in this match. As the shorter man he’ll want to close the distance with jabs and inside low kicks all so he can set up his powerful punching game. This is truly a pick ‘em fight as both men are great at what they do. While Daley may have overcome lesser opponents look for Douglas Lima to utilize his reach advantage to secure a TKO victory in the first round of a barnburner.
