Nathan De Asha hasn’t been on the scene very long, but already since making his debut, the bodybuilder is turning heads and getting people talking. With so many other young prospects looking to be the next champion bodybuilder, it’s not too much of a shock that more people aren’t talking about De Asha. But his recent appearance at the NY Pro has got people wondering about this bodybuilder’s potential.

Though De Asha came in second at the California Pro show this past weekend, he’s already proven that he can hang with the best of the best. It’s still very early in De Asha’s career, but he’s presented the kind of physique that raises the question of whether or not he can become a future Olympia champion. I’m sure most of you guys are a fan of the smash hit T.V. show Breaking Bad. In the AMC series a terminally ill chemistry teacher who’s down on his luck decides the only way to make things right is to use his talents to sell one of the purest forms of crystal meth for a boat load of a cash. While fictional, the truth is that many people are finding 6 figure income in the very profitable world of black market drug dealing. While the dealer in this particular instance doesn’t consider steroids a “drug,” the point is that its highly illegal and can get you 10-15 if you’re caught

In this Discovery channel interview, two journalist go to interview a steroid cook in his work house. Before they can even get there the camera man is blindfolded so he can’t retrace the route. The only reason they’re granted access at all is because the interviewer has connections with the cook. Like a scene straight out of fight club, before they can see how the process is done, one of the interviewers has a picture of his license taken for collateral.

The interviewers give us an in depth look inside a real steroid lab, where the cook conjures up a brew consisting of 4 different types of testosterone. Make no mistake about, even though this is a fairy low budget at home lab, the cook takes his job very seriously, even snapping at one of the interviewers for potentially contaminating a product. When asked about anabolic steroids in professional sports, he says the industry is driven by the American public.

When training to build what you consider to be the perfect physical form, you’re more than likely going to be training the classic muscle groups. The biceps, triceps, hamstrings, quads, calves, pecs, lats, these are the body parts that most bodybuilders focus on when they intend to build up their bodies. It only makes sense, especially since they are the major muscle groups of the body after all. But building a superior body is more than just pouring focus into the major muscle groups. Sometimes a bodybuilder needs to emphasize on some of the smaller muscle groups of the body in order to achieve the best overall gains.

With that said, here are some of the most neglected muscle groups in the body and why you should be training them.

Of all the muscle groups on this list, this one may be the most obvious yet most under trained. The brachialis is a muscle that flexes the elbow joint. It can add some thickness to your arms, specifically between the biceps and triceps. It can definitely add a new wrinkle to your arm development. The best way to train this muscle group is by curling a dumbbell, palms facing downwards or by performing hammer curls.

Gyno definitely isn’t pretty.

Often times most bodybuilders will tell you that they’ll do whatever it takes to build muscle, that they’ll make the sacrifices needed to be able to make massive gains and change their physique for the better. There seems to be a single-mindedness to the entire process of building massive muscle and reality you have to have that kind of mindset if you hope to make an impressive run in this industry. It takes obsession to be great at something and bodybuilding is no different. But there are consequences to adhering that frame of thought.

When it comes to making massive gains there are tons of different products and supplements on the market that will give your training an added boost. There’s creatine, there’s protein shakes, both of which are fairly common in many athlete’s diets. However, the most controversial of all is undoubtedly anabolic steroids. Besides the fact that the substance is considered to be banned in most sporting events, it can truly boost a person’s muscle growth. There are many people out there, a great deal of which don’t even compete, that choose to use anabolic steroids as a means of getting themselves into massive, shredded condition. There’s just one problem though; a lot of them don’t know what they’re doing.

Many of them choose to take massive amounts of steroids or testosterone booster believing the more they take the better. The unfortunate truth for those individuals is that they’re doing themselves massive harm. Taking so much boosters is likely to backfire in the long run. More than likely the body will produce so much testosterone through the use of the substance that eventually the body will naturally up the estrogen, resulting in gynecomastia also loving called manboobs or gyno. UFC 199 BREAKDOWN: DUSTIN POIRIER VS BOBBY GREEN

UFC 199 is right around the corner and it features some of the best match ups of the year. Headlined by two championship fights, it’s easy to imagine how some fights are flying under the radar. For anyone who enjoys a good throw down between two game and rugged fighters, this match is for you. Both Dustin Poirier and Bobby Green are combatants who have seen their fair share of experience and have a tendency to have exciting fights. Dustin-Poirier-and-Akira-CorassaniEver since returning to the Lightweight division Dustin Poirier has looked revitalized, dominating his last three fights. In his most recent match against Joseph Duffy, Poirier demonstrated his maturity and mixed things up with powerful striking and grappling. While Duffy had some success on the feet, it was Poirier who constantly pushed forward and pressed the action. His smothering top control and elbows proved to be too much for the Irishman netting him a hard fought unanimous decision victory. What Poirier will need to do to secure victory in this match up is utilize his power punching to set up takedown attempts and visa versa in order to throw Green off of his game. But that’s easier said than done against a fighter as unorthodox as “The King.” Bobby Green has had a pretty successful UFC run during his tenure with the promotion. He has frustrated a number of his opponents in the Octagon with unorthodox movement, potent boxing, and a wrestling game that he utilizes both offensively and defensively. The biggest advantage Green has in this fight will be his forward pressure. For all of Poirier’s powerful striking, he’s not a fighter who does well when he’s forced to fight moving backwards. Bobby Green’s entire style is based around pressure and even the most talented of strikers have fallen into his game. It wasn’t until he encountered the ultra talented Edson Barboza that Green ran into some trouble. He wasn’t able to shift gears and dropped a decision because of it. Edson Barboza vs Bobby Green If Green hopes to win this fight he’ll have to use his pressure styled game to cut off the cage on Poirier, throw a high amount of volume, and keep his opponent backing up. Though many will point to Poirier’s power, Green has some great head movement and often has success with drawing most fighters into his world. When it comes to growing muscle there are many different schools of thought on the subject. Many bodybuilders believe that you have to follow a strict diet plan in order to grow your muscle and really that’s not wrong. But some bodybuilders have a tendency to over compensate with the amount of supplements they take, thinking that protein powder is the end all be all in terms of growing muscle. Of course protein is essential to growing muscle, but the amounts in which many people consume the nutrient is a bit alarming.

Before you choose to lambast these statements consider the fact that old school bodybuilders, strongmen, and weightlifters didn’t rely on the kind of diet programs that are often popularized today. There was no talk of ketogenic diets or going paleo or tracking macronutrition. Though all of these concepts can be essential to a bodybuilder’s progression, for strength athletes of the past such ideologies were never given much thought. You had to eat foods that would fuel your body in sensible portions and made sure to train your ass off to see the results you craved.

Another notion that many bodybuilders have popularized is the idea that the only way to grow massive muscle, get shredded, and jacked is by weightlifting. But the more research we do into the subject the more we’re finding out that bodyweight movements can also be beneficial to building a powerful and well muscled physique.

Just take a look at Alseny and Sekou, two West African circus performers with tremendous physiques f their own. They neither utilized supplementation nor weight training to build their physiques, yet both sport powerful and impressive frames that would make any aspiring bodybuilder proud. Robert “Mr. Classic Physique” Timms May Have The Best Proportions In Bodybuilding

Robert Timms proves that he deserves his nick name.

There are a ton of different schools of thought on what the ultimate physique should look like. While many bodybuilder enthusiast believe that the massive frames of championship level competitors are ideal, there are many who believe that having a smaller frame is more ideal. The difference in opinion has quickly turned into a debate on whether or not aesthetics or muscle mass should be treated with greater importance. Though the matter truly comes down to individual opinions, there’s no denying that the aesthetics of a classic bodybuilder are truly impressive.

The classic physique division is slowly gaining steam and should explode by the time of the Olympia in the fall. Until then there are many different competitions featuring athletes who are doing their best to develop their bodies and posing routines to accommodate the newly created division. Competitors like Sadik Hadzovic are being touted as the future of the classic physique division, namely because of the man’s condition in the Men’s Physique division.

But Sadik isn’t the only athlete that fans should be keeping their eyes on. Robert Timms who goes by the Instagram handle of mrclassicphysiq is acquitting himself well on the posing stage. His proportions appear to be some of the most ideal for the Classic Physique division. It would be no surprise if Timms’ popularity begins to grow rapidly in the months and years to come.
