SADIK IS GETTING BIGGER. COULD THIS BE THE ROAD TO CLASSIC PHYSIQUE?

Generation Iron Sadik Classic Physique

Sadik Is Getting Bigger Could This Be the Road to Classic Physique Header

Sadik getting even more swole.

There comes a time in everyone’s life when they understand that making the big shift is a necessary part of furthering their career goals. Whether you’re a carpenter, an accountant, a doctor, an electrician, there will come a time in your career that requires you to take the next step of your professional evolution. The same can be said for athletic endeavors like bodybuilder (unless your name is Dexter Jackson of course).

The 2015 Olympia saw reigning Physique champ Jeremy Buendia take the top spot once again. Many observers thought that Sadik Hadzovic should have been a shoe-in to win the competition, but apparently the judges saw things quite differently. Now that the off season is more or less underway, many questions are being asked of the Men’s Physique standout. So many fans and onlookers expected a big win for Sadik in this past year’s show which obviously didn’t materialize leading many to believe that the judges may have a skewed vision in regards to Hadzovic.

.

This had led to many people asking the most imperative question of all. Will Sadik remain in the Physique division? How things stand, being the number two Physique competitor in the world isn’t the worst thing in the world, but that simply won’t do for a man as dedicated as Sadik. Becoming a champion is his number one goal and if the package he brings to the table is one that the judges can’t appreciate then you have to wonder what steps he’ll choose to take in order to become a bodybuilding champion.

With the announcement of the Classic Physiques division, one that many believe the young man could dominate, it becomes a waiting game to see whether or not Sadik will choose to remain in his current division or try something new and move on. He’s dropped a few hints in the past but at this point it’s all just speculation. Whether or not he chooses to move into the Classic Physique Division is still uncertain – but there is one thing that is certain, Sadik is already starting to look swole this off season. Take a look at his Instagram vid below for the proof.

Do you think this is another hint that Sadik will be moving to the Classic Physique division? Let us know in the comments and forums. Also, be sure to follow Generation Iron on Facebook and Twitter.

DIGITAL VS PRINT: ARE BODYBUILDING MAGAZINES DYING?

Digital Vs Print Are Bodybuilding Magazines Dying Header

What is the future of fitness magazines?

If you ask most bodybuilders where they got their inspiration to live the lifestyle, chances are most of their stories would match up. They’d say “I saw a magazine featuring Arnold” or “There was a picture of Dorian Yates that really inspired me”. For the most part these inspirational pictures would have likely be found in a long running magazine like Flex or Iron Man Magazine. That’s not too surprising, especially when you consider that many professional bodybuilders were inspired by images that they’ve seen between one popular magazine or another. But as we move further and further into the future, people are realizing that the popularity of print magazine are starting to lose sway. It makes you wonder, is print dead where fitness magazines are concerned?

Currently we’re living in an internet age where any and everything is accessible through desktop computers, laptops, and smart phones. Access to anything is just a click away and that includes the kind of images and articles that would give your average bodybuilder inspirational fuel. In this digital era it’s becoming more and more apparent that as we move forward, the magazines that were once the focus of the fitness industry will eventually fade away to be replaced by digital outlets.

.

Of course that doesn’t negate the history of the popular magazines that has brought so much attention to bodybuilding and other fitness related endeavors. But the reality is that in order for there to be a future in fitness, everyone is going to have to go digital. If the recent trend of YouTube fitness stars hasn’t proven that already, then just look at the success of the other classic fitness magazines that have gone digital. Flex Magazine has integrated into Flex Online rather smoothly and has proven that in order to survive in the digital age, adaptation is a necessity. One of the biggest bodybuilding outlets (and the world) is bodybuilding.com – and they don’t even have print magazine.

Of course, this isn’t just something effecting the fitness industry – it’s effecting the entire scope of print media. Check out this comparison of this year’s first quarter to last year for the leading magazine publishers:

This switch to digital surely makes sense in today’s society where anyone can have a smart phone everywhere they go – but it especially makes sense for the bodybuilding community. No matter how far this industry has grown it is still a niche sport and the internet provides a level of connectivity bodybuilding fans to connect in ways that were previously impossible. Since the advent of the internet fitness enthusiasts have been finding a new outlet for their inspiration. Reddit Bodybuilding, Bodybuilding.com, and other forums of the like have converted many fitness fanatics and has produced tons of new fans. This new digital age has allowed individuals with a new and unique voice to flourish. No one form of media rules the day and through the expansion of the online fitness community many new people have a voice and a platform to get their own message across, inspiring legions of others in the process.

So is print dead? Not entirely. Magazine racks at your local supermarket or convenience store will always be filled with some kind of print media. But the truth of the matter is that you no longer need to rely on that one special issue with your favorite athlete in order to be inspired. With the digital era in full swing, inspiration is all just a click away and that’s exactly how it should be. So when the new generation of bodybuilders proclaim in interviews that they became inspired by the big mass monsters in Flex or Muscular Development… will it be on the magazine or the computer screen?

FRENCH POWERHOUSE REVEALS THE SECRET FOR A MASSIVE CHEST

generation iron

generation iron

Take some advice and expand your pecs.

Experienced bodybuilders weren’t always the advanced behemoths that they may be today. When everyone first starts out they have a problem area that they hope to focus on, a particular body part that needs some whipping into shape. It’s the area of their body that they hope to make improvements on because they either wish to emulate someone else they’ve seen or just simply because they want to perfect that muscle group. But for as long as the experienced bodybuilders have trained, there’s no doubt that you have a favorite body part to train.

When you sit back and think about it, it’s only natural that a particular muscle group, whether it’s a problem area or not, will eventually become you favorite body part to train. For some, making arm gains are simple and easy and they gravitate towards working those muscles because it’s easy to see gains. For many others, legs are their most developed body part and they train them with enthusiasm. But for a great deal of male bodybuilders, the chest has always been a cause for concern.

The pecs get a great deal of attention for different factors. There are some male lifters that have small chest with no fat, no muscle, no nothing. They wish to pack on some muscle because it’s preferable to the “bird chest” that they have now. There are others with plenty of fat and muscle on their pecs, but the excess can make it appear that they have man boobs. Carving out a powerful and sculpted chest can be a real chore for some people, but for many others it can be their favorite muscle group to train simply because they want to improve upon it so much.

French bodybuilder and fitness model Marvin Tilliere has said as much about his own chest gains. He has the physique of a superhero which requires having a powerful chest to bring everything together. Take a look at the secrets the Frenchman used to build his pecs.

What’s your favorite body part to train? Let us know in the comments and forums. Also, be sure to follow Generation Iron on Facebook and Twitter.

ORIGINS OF GREATNESS: DEXTER JACKSON’S FIRST OLYMPIA COMPETITION

Generation Iron Dexter Jackson First Olympia Competition

Generation Iron Dexter Jackson First Olympia Competition

The beginning of a fantastic career.

If you were to ask anyone about 2015 in bodybuilding there’s no doubt that you’ll hear the same few topics brought up over and over again. That Big Ramy was the first man to hit an Olympia stage at over 300 lbs, that Kai Greene was unable to compete at this years event, and that Dexter Jackson was on fire. There’s no doubt about, the former Mr. Olympia champion has had quite the year. He has shown not only why he is one of the best bodybuilders in the world, but why he still has a potential shot at extending his legacy of greatness.

Just think about it. This time last year, any time someone brought up Dexter Jackson’s name it was quickly followed by the words “old man” or “retirement” or any other number of phrases that would indicate that the bodybuilder’s days at the top were coming to a sudden end. That however wouldn’t end up being the case – quite the opposite in fact.

.

Instead, rather than just hang it up or simply compete in a senior bodybuilding division, Dexter trained hard, made some small but needed improvements, and captured a record five wins at the 2015 Arnold Classic. He even went on to beat out men like Shawn Rhoden, Dennis Wolf, and Big Ramy to take second at the 2015 Mr. Olympia competition. This year showed the grit and determination of a man who has a bit more to prove before calling it quits and walking away from the sport.

Many may have thought Jackson was over the hill, that perhaps he couldn’t overcome the young guns of the division. But for those who have followed “The Blade” over the years, his top placing at this year’s Olympia came as little surprise. Just watch his impressive showing at his first Olympia event back in 1999 and you’ll see a competitor who was looking to make a name for himself.
