Additional information below

*UPDATE: The body of WWE Superstar Shad Gaspard has been found.

Shad Gaspard, 39, and his 10-year-old son were at Venice Beach on Sunday when they were caught up an a rip current and signaled for help from the Venice Beach lifeguards. While Gaspard’s son was able to be rescued, Gaspard himself went underwater and lifeguards were unable to locate him. It was the first weekend beaches in California have been open to the public since almost six weeks of continuous mandated lockdown.

Gaspard was part of the now-infamous WWE tag time duo Cryme Tyme before being released from his WWE contract in 2010. Many of his friends from the wrestling circuit reached out to raise awareness of his disappearance after his wife posted that he had gone missing.

After doing an exhaustive search of the ocean Sunday evening  and sending out a remote search party which included aerial viewing on Monday, LAPD called off their search.

It’s a very sad day for fans of the wrestling superstar everywhere to hear this disheartening news. Shad Gaspard was beloved and will always be remembered by the members of the wrestling family he helped to build. That the LAPD was not able to bring him back to his wife and young son only adds another layer to this horrific tragedy. As per requests from his friends and wrestling co-stars over Twitter, Shad’s wife and immediate family are not currently available to comment and ask to be left alone during this time.

Update: It appears that the body of Shad Gaspard has been found on Venice Beach, California. After going missing a few days ago, it appears that police have discovered the former WWE wrestler’s body after being alerted by a passerby. He was swept away by a rip current while swimming with his ten year old son. Thankfully his son was rescued by lifeguards.

This comes as truly heartbreaking news. Shad Gaspard was 39 years old.
