DWAYNE “THE ROCK” JOHNSON COMES CLEAN ON STEROID USE

The Rock dishes on his past.

Former WWE superstar and popular actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has recently gone on record about his steroid use in an interview with Fortune. To many it may not be shocking to hear that a former professional wrestler has dabbled in steroid use. But Johnson isn’t just any former wrestler. He’s a household name, a man whose crossover success is an inspiration to many young hungry up and comers, whether in wrestling, acting, or other endeavors. This makes him an easy target.

In an interview with Josh Horowitz of MTV, Johnson admits that he did try steroids in his late teens. “I tried it,” Johnson said. “Me and my buddies tried it back in the day when I was 18 or 19. Didn’t know what we were doing.” It essentially adds up to being nothing more than a young kid experimenting with something that was unknown to him. So how exactly has steroid use affected Johnson’s career? They haven’t in the least.

Johnson’s use of the anabolic substance was an isolated incident. “They want to negate the hard work you put in,” Johnson states about members of the online community that believe his muscle gains in recent years to be steroid fueled. It’s easy to blame Johnson’s physique on steroids, but what detractors seem to forget is the man’s genetics. Coming from an athletically gifted family, Johnson has the genetic body type to obtain such a bulked and defined form. When your father is Rocky Johnson and your grandfather is Peter Maivia, you’re likely to have an easier road to bulking up through hard work.

So is Johnson’s steroid use something he should be ashamed of? A reason to lambast the star? Not in the least. Dwayne Johnson is a hard working and inspirational figure whose bigger than just one incident. And to be fair, plenty of people have used steroids and have been no worse for wear. Everyone wants to put a negative spin on the anabolic substance, but in truth, with proper education on the subject, many would understand that steroid use isn’t as terrifying as the media makes it seem. It isn’t fair to label him a “roidhead” because of the hard work Johnson puts in the gym. Even if Johnson currently used steroids, which we doubt he does, it shouldn’t take away from the fact that he’s a great actor, role model, and human being. Before throwing around labels, people in the media and in online communities need to be educated in order to have an opinion that carries weight.

  • It's normal for Islanders to be big bulky and very muscular thank God everyone now knows that it's not steroids all the boys in my family are as huge and as big as this guy.

    • There is a big difference between being a big man and being a big man comprised of ONLY solid ripped muscle and nothing else.
Your relatives may be big, but compare their physique with this movie star's physique.
"Big" does not accurately describe Johnson.
It does however, describe some island genetics. But it's not this steroid boosted type of the same kind of look.

  • The rock has great genitcs yes but he has used steroids when he was a pro wrestlers and for long periods coz he giano removed from behind hes nipples which is coursed by steroid use long term. And hes a 260 of solid lean muscle all year round and at 45 hes defo using testosterone. But the rock is 6ft 4 and trains and eats like an animal 5 days a week so most people will never look like the rock no matter how many steroids they take but he is 100% taking them. i ued steroids and im a bodybuilder so i know he is

    • Wow, You are so gifted as to KNOW what somebody else does. You MUST be GOD WHO USES STEROIDS. i doubt you know anything except when using roids your peene shrivels so yours must be tiny.

      • If you don't lift and you don't yse then you don't know shit. Don't comment when you ha e no idea what the fuck you aare talking about. Dwayne is amazing no doubt. No one can ever doubt what a great man he is. But he does use Steroids. And lots of many hard cycles on anabolic steroids. Those of us that use or don't use that train hard know. We don't have to be gods you moron. I hate people like you. And the only reason you man the penis joke is cause your tiny yourself. You jealous dick.

        • If you actually believe Dwayne when he says "uhhh I used it once in high school", then you are retarded. That's what police applicants say about pot lol. If you think he isn't on juice to this very day, then YOU don't lift lol.

  • Haha generation iron doubts hes on steroids next youll ne saying Ronnie Coleman was natural seriously stop spreading this bullshit. No it doesnt matter if he does which he does your a fkn idiot if you think he doesn't" you probably believe in a god as well" fk idiots

  • I love the Rock and I'm not hating on him.
I'm trying to help people that read this article not be gullible when I state the following truth.
THERE IS NO WAY HE IS NOT ON STEROIDS.
He is also one of the hardest working men in show business and he does work extremely hard in the gym. Steroids aren't an easy substitute for hard work. They simply make that kind of added muscle mass POSSIBLE.
To believe "I tried it when I was 19", and to believe all natural hard work ALONE without the HELP of steroids can produce those results, means you are VERY naive.
The human body simply can NOT add that MUCH muscle mass without working your butt off PLUS steroids. The article seems to say the use of steroids is "the easy way".
NO! The use of steroids makes a HUGE amount of HARD work such that it's physically POSSIBLE to bulk up THAT much.
You STILL must WORK extremely HARD in the gym. But i don't care how hard you work, THOSE results are simply not possible without ALSO using chemicals like steroids.
There is NO way he only "tried it as a teen" and never touched it again. I so very much respect him still, he had no choice but to lie because today's media makes steroids out to be only a "shortcut" instead of also admitting or understanding shortcut is not it's only use. It is also REQUIRED to get that HUGE added mass physique, to make the transformation POSSIBLE. A look the media themselves glorify. To get that HUGE you must work out like a dedicated hard working good strong willed person. But that alone just isn't going to get you there. No way no how not possible. It takes dedication in the gym PLUS steroids.

  • Guy is 100% ON STEROIDS... lol If you do not believe this you are an idot.. guy gains 60 pounds of muscle in months just impossible without steroids... wake up people

    • You name is Yi? And you think Trump is an idiot? Dude? Even your name is stupid. Wish you fucking foreigners would go thge fuck home.

      • Well that’s ironic, calling him a moron because of his name... a little idiotic wouldn’t you say? And to assume he’s a foreigner because of his name, though likely, still idiotic. And then defending trump? I’d say your pretty close to an extra chromosome there ya dumb hillbilly?

  • Haha this is laughable bullshit. If you don't know that Dwayne Johnson blasts and cruises, then you shouldn't even be speaking on the subject.

    • I totally agree. It's amazing what people will believe. Dwayne has to say what he has to in order to get credit where credit is due. People consider steroids more than a shortcut. The media would have a field day with him if he admitted it truthfully.

  • Seems to be the common type of denial: "Yeah, I used to used them a short time long ago but never since".
Hope these characters never get into selling used cars.
