These are not your run of the mill gyms.

Going into the same gym, day in, day out, can inspire two effects: Either you have a feeling of home or you sit down and wonder what other places are out there to experience. Everyone can hit your average gym, weight racks set up in front of large mirrors, the same guy hogging the bench press while you’re waiting for your turn. Sometimes you just need a change in scenery. Sometimes you need to have a brand new experience. Well we let our imagination run wild – and picked out the top four craziest gyms that really exist in the world. Seriously, this will shake up that humdrum feeling of repetitiveness. Maybe too much.

Makeshift Gym – Brazil

Talk about old school gyms, the makeshift gym located on Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro is a true throw back to the days of bodybuilding with just the bare necessities. You can enjoy the beach atmosphere and enjoy the views while pumping up with unorthodox stone weights.

Hydropark – Ukraine

Another outdoor gym, the Hydropark in Dnieper River in Kiev is a bare bones training facility that offers everything from pull up bars to the bench press. The strangest part, all of the equipment is made up of scrap metal. If you’re looking wild gyms to check out this should definitely be on your list. Just make sure you’ve taken your tetanus shots.

Wellness Sky – Serbia

Ever felt like working out in a gym designed to look like the training center for a super soldier program? Wellness Sky in Serbia fits the bill perfectly. The facility offers all the usual amenities and offers a unique gym design. If you have the opportunity to pump iron in Southern Europe, why not give Wellness Sky a try. We also have a sneaking suspicion this is where the Universal Soldiers were born.

Muscle Beach Gym – United States

While this might not seem “crazy” to many of you – the fact remains that Muscle Beach is a rare kind of gym in America. Originally founded in 1934, Muscle Beach Gym was a regular haunt of old school bodybuilders and celebs alike. Since opening up in Venice California, the gym has been frequented by many bodybuilders, men and women with the same goals. If you’re looking for to experience some vintage bodybuilding make sure to check out this blast from the past.
