Who Is Your Ideal Training Partner?

Iron sharpens iron.

There are every kind of workout junkie out there. There’s the lone wolf who prefers to do their training alone. There’s the wolf pack, a bunch of buddies with the common interest of bettering themselves through exercise. Then there’s the variation on the wolf pack, the buddy cop pairing. Two partners who work together to achieve their ultimate fitness goals.

There are tons of reason to have training partners. They motivate you to push past your limits. Whether it be through speech or just sheer competition, your training partner is there to help you become a better version of yourself and visa versa. The idea is to pick someone you know will be serious about obtaining positive changes in their own fitness as well as yours. One great training partner can be more beneficial to your growth than ten good ones.

So you have to wonder, out of all the pros that have competed in the sport who would be the best training partner to pair up with? Each pro would bring something specific to the table to give an athlete motivation. If you can train with anyone in the world, who would it be? We make our picks.

Arnold Schwarzenegger

Schwarzenegger’s attitude of superiority and over confidence would prove fruitful in wanting to push past the Austrian. It would be a motivating factor that could push you into overdrive in hopes of surpassing Arnold. Let’s not forget his seven Olympia wins gives him an edge in knowing what the judges find aesthetically pleasing. That wealth of knowledge would benefit any pro or the average fitness fanatic.

Kai Greene

Kai Greene’s inspirational and poetic quotes could put your mind at ease when you begin to doubt your abilities. Greene would easily motivate you to push past your weaknesses and overcome adversity. Being runner up in the Olympia competition is nothing to scoff at. There’s no doubts that training with Kai would definitely reap some hefty benefits. Pushing you both in body and in mind – Kai Greene would not only keep you on your toes in the gym, but also at night when your resting. His words still lingering in your head.

Mamdouh “Big Ramy” Elssbiay

Big Ramy’s story alone would push any bodybuilder to up his efforts. Elssbiay packed on the size and muscle to compete on the world stage in just three years of serious training. That’s an impressive feat that few wouldn’t be able to accomplish. If Big Ramy was your training partner there’s no doubt you’d be taking some notes on gaining massive size and definition by studying the Egyptian’s routine. If he could grow to such massive proportions in such a small amount of time – who knows, maybe he’d do the same for you if you trained with him.
