Is Bodybuilding The True Fountain OF Youth? These Older Bodybuilders Prove Yes

Life extension through weight training

The Fountain of Youth is a spring that supposedly restores the youth of anyone who drinks or bathes in its waters. Many people are still in search of the answer to longevity yet bodybuilders seem to have found it long ago.

Take a look a golden era bodybuilder Robby Robinson. The man with the incredible shape and symmetry we all saw in the legendary film Pumping Iron. 40 Years later and not much has changed for the Black Prince. Although slightly grayer, at 70 years young Robby Robinson is still pumping iron and sporting a physique that can turn heads in any gym. With over 300 contests to his name, Robinson is showing no signs of slowing down. Has Robby found this mythical fountain of youth?

Robby isn’t the only one, clearly he has shared some of his wisdom with iron brother Lou Ferrigno! At 63 the incredible hulk is still maintaining a physique that once rivaled Arnold Schwarzenegger at the 1975 Olympia. Even since retiring from professional bodybuilding in 1994 Weight training is still a staple in his daily routine.

Still need more proof? If you happen to be looking for the 1980 IFBB Professional Mr. International champion, you can find him in the gym. That’s right, Andrias Cahling still walks around in competition shape over 35 years later. With a competition history spanning from 1969 to 1993 Cahling has yet to leave his iron roots behind. If anyone has found the fountain of youth, it must by bodybuilders!

There’s more than just anecdotal evidence however. Scientist have food a clear correlation between muscle mass and longevity. Not only should proper nutrition a lifestyle habits be a part of anyone’s age prevention strategies, but a good daily dose of pumping iron as well. With so many stereotypes and negative comments being thrown around in regards to bodybuilding by the “average Joe” (particularly about steroids and early deaths due to drugs…), it’s easy to paint a very negative picture behind the lifestyle of a bodybuilder.

But when you look at the evidence here and point out responsible and smart bodybuilders – you’ll see that the bodybuilding lifestyle will do nothing but add an aura of youth around a person as they age. When it comes to bodybuilding, you’re not getting old – just older.

    • Frank Zane and Lou Ferrigno look pretty good for 70 and 66... Lou was a mass monster. They used gear and dont look look that bad for their age now

    • They all do roids....but roids doesn't male you younger for fuck sacke....it just pump you up! And eventualy you can die from them....GH (growth hormone) is youth recipe.

    • you idiot robby robinson is taking steroids for over 50 years and he is in good health, learn to educate yourself before you run your mouth.

    • Juahn Hatwell i used to think the same.. but turns out they barely had any education on using gear and ended up popping dbol pills like tic tacs. Mind you this was in the 70s and 80s before the real science of these drugs were looked into..

  • GH makes you 10 years younger....look a lil bit better on every single one BB...look at the Blade like he stated it on the page....still same dude.

  • No. I have loooooong ago came to thee conclusion that, even though I'm in the health and fitness industry and live such a lifestyle as to keep my body as fit as it possibly can be as I age. No amount of health application will EVER stop this body of mine from decaying and die. Weather I choose to liv a fit life style or not. Die this body will. My soul is who I am, the body is but a TEMPORARY vessel loaned to me, to carry this soul in. Weather I chose to take care of it, nurturing it with positive action as to prolong its shelf life A LITTLE BIT, makes no difference and will not make me live past 100 - 150. I feel sorry for people who get into this lifestyle with the motivation of wanting to live longer. your end date is not really up to u..no matter how healthy u attempt to try assist such lofty goals. The fittest people just drop dead and have no logical reason as to why. "But he was so healthy and lived a positive lifestyle". Death u have no control over.

By the way, most body builders are not that healthy. Because all the focus is on MUSCULAR FITNESS...and not so much CARDIOVASCULAR FITNESS / Cardiopulmonary System..THAT! Is where your heart health lies not in the muscle. Muscular fitness is different to cardiovascular fitness. Bigger muscle does not equal longevity of life. It helps in that u have less fat than muscle ratio, and assist with strength and better movement. We know Ronnie Colamans a BIG dude muscle wise, but what does his heart(condition) looks like at this age. Wasn't he I'll recently? See the body, no matter the health input will eventually decay and wrot. Everyday ur body is busy rotting getting old and withering..true shit my bra

  • Robby has found the fountain of juice. I'm sure he diets and trains hard but probably has an ass full of injection sites.

  • If you eat right and stretch along with the resistance training and cardio for the heart it is indeed
