There have been many big names that have gone from Strongman and powerlifting into the world of boxing and MMA. Eddie Hall is next on the list and recently showed a video of a recent sparring session in the ring. The former World’s Strongest Man was training with professional MMA fighters and caught a kick that landed him on the ground.

Hall is preparing to take on reigning World’s Strongest Man champion Mitchell Hooper in the ring in just five weeks in Qatar. Both men are following in the footsteps of the likes of Martyn Ford and of course, Hafthor Bjornsson, who defeated Eddie Hall by unanimous decision during their boxing match in 2022.

“It’s been a really hard transition. Obviously doing quite a good period of boxing has taught me some bad habits for MMA.”

During his prep for this battle with Hooper, Hall has trained with many pros in the field. This includes UFC heavyweight Tom Aspinall. This session began with sparring against a Russian fighter who stands 6-foot-9.

Eddie Hall shared the video to his YouTube page and even included the word “Knockout” in the title of the video. It begins with the two fighters performing warmup drills then stepping into the ring. Shortly after the sparring began, Hall catches a kick in thread that knocked him down and left him rattled.

“I thought, I’ll keep my distance, just work my way in when I can and then he just switched, back leg, and I woke up on my back.”

Eddie Hall continued to speak about the experience and called it a “good wake-up call” as he remained in good spirits for the remainder of the session.

“That was a good one. F*ck my life. Someone could have told me about that back leg!”

During the 2016 World Deadlift Championships, Hall became the first person to deadlift 500kg (1,102.3lb). The very next year, he was crowned champion of the World’s Strongest Man event and solidified his spot as one of the best in Strongman. Hall took a step back from powerlifting to take on boxing. He made a significant physique transformation and took on fellow strongman Hafthor Bjornsson.

Hall will be back in the ring in February taking on a fellow Strongman. He is putting in all the necessary work to come out on top in this battle.
