10 BRUTAL MORTAL KOMBAT INSPIRED WORKOUT FINISHERS

Test your might.

If you’re a fan of video games, fighting games in particular, then I have no doubt that you know what today is. Today marks the release of the tenth installment in the Mortal Kombat franchise and that in itself is no small feat. The hitting a few snags along the way, the series is back in fighting form and has never been more popular. The game is known for it’s brutal finishing moves, all of them ending in gruesome fashion. In a way, your workout should be ending in just the same way.

Workout finishers are meant for you to push your routine to the next level and finish things strong. With your muscles fatigued and with hopes of burning as much body fat as possible, the right finishers can help produce some great gains after a tough workout. It all has to do with exercise selection and we’ve got you covered in that department. In homage to Mortal Kombat X’s release, here’s our list of ten workout finishers you should have in your routine and be warned, we’re challenging you to take them and perform all to failure.

Chest

Kotal Kahn is a new addition to the franchise. I picked him for chest because anyone who cuts himself across the pecs for greater strength from his god, chances are the guy’s gonna have some impressive chest muscles to withstand that kind of pain. Check out these chest finishers that will get your pecs rock solid.

Finishers:

Cable Crossovers
Machine Flyes

Legs

Johnny Cage has been a staple of the series since appearing in the first iteration of the game way back when. The character’s known for his cocky attitude but with impressive skills to back it up. One of those skills is the shadow kick and there’s no doubt you need some strong legs to perform some great kicks.

Finishers:

Calf Raises
Leg Press

Arms

Another classic series character, Goro was just one of those characters that stuck with you one, because his design was too frightening to forget, and two, because the guy has four massive arms. Who better to represent arm finishers.

Finishers:

Hammer Curls
Triceps Pulldowns

Shoulders

To be honest when I first saw Jax in MK 2 I wasn’t impressed by his design. All that changed with his very next appearance in Mortal Kombat 3. The guy had metal arms. METAL ARMS!!! That was a pretty bad ass design choice and with shoulders and arms made out of steel it’s likely that you’d have no problem pushing some heavy weight.

Finishers:

Lateral Raise
Standing Dumbbell Press

Back

The first thing I tend to think about when I see Kano’s design is Arnold Schwarzenegger’s turn in Terminator. But besides that, the Australian mercenary is known for his somersault and ground rolling attacks, often times smashing into his opponents with his back. If you wanted plan on being a human pin ball, slamming your back into people, then you’re probably going to need it to be in top condition.

Finishers:

Lat Pull Down
Dumbbell Rows
