Are today’s bodybuilders lacking?
In this day and age there always seems to be this notion, this unwritten rule that newer is better, that everything in the modern day is always vastly superior than what came before. This isn’t necessarily incorrect. But the problem with that statement is that it has more to do with technology than it does with athletic performance. Surely there are is different methods and research these days that can benefit athletes, but that’s not true in all cases. If you find that hard to believe then all you need to do is simply look at the bodybuilders of the ’90s.
In the world of bodybuilding it’s fairly common for people to make comparisons of the different physiques from both the modern and past eras of the sport. Many fans will claim that the Golden Era of the ’70s is where all the best bodybuilders competed. Some will say that the current phase of the sport features the absolute crème de la crème of bodybuilding talent. Then there are those who believe that the ’90s were the absolute pinnacle of the sport.
Flex Wheeler believes as much and though you could say that he’s biased because of the fact that he competed during that era, the bodybuilding veteran is providing his proof that what we have today isn’t the absolute best. While it still may be a matter of opinion it’s hard to argue with the photos below.
Is Flex Wheeler correct in making this comparison? Do these photos really do the bodybuilders justice?
