HAFTHOR THE MOUNTAIN: BREAKING RECORDS AND COLLECTING CHECKS

game of thronesThe Mountain is breaking records again.

Building muscle and making considerable gains is the number one goal of any bodybuilder. In order to consider yourself a successful bodybuilder it means dedication, sacrifice, and a single-minded will to succeed. The endeavor of building quality muscle does come with it’s own drawbacks however. Many bodybuilders may look the part of a person possessing incredible strength and power, but the truth of the matter is that a great deal of them are nowhere near as strong as they appear. Sure, there are many bodybuilders with both an impressive physique as well as possessing incredible strength, but the reality is that bodybuilding is all about shaping the body into the perfect form rather than building strength along with it. When it comes to being strong and powerful there’s no doubt that strongman competitors take the cake.

Where a bodybuilder may be envious of a strongman’s strength, strongman competitors are equally envious of bodybuilding aesthetics. But there’s one athlete who has seemed to marry both the two together. Hafthor Bjornsson is a strongman competitor that’s been gaining a steady amount of popularity recently. After being featured as the behemoth warrior “The Mountain” Gregor Clegane in HBO’s hit series Game of Thrones, Bjornsson’s star has skyrocketed. The Icelandic strongman was also seen in a recent online video with UFC Featherweight Conor McGregor, the two man sparring in the latter’s gym Straight Blast Gym in Ireland.

No one would confuse Bjornsson for a championship level bodybuilder, but he does have a tremendous amount of muscle, a powerful physique, and the functional strength to back all of it up. Recently the strongman broke another world record proving that all his size and muscle aren’t just for show. Take a look at the incredible feat of strength in the video below.
