Bubb began training at a young age and quickly found a passion for fitness. He enjoyed a great career in the Golden Era of bodybuilding where he competed against some of the all-time greats including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sergio Oliva, Bill Pearl, and Dave Draper.
Bubb competed at the Mr. Universe in the Tall Class five times during his career. His best performance came in 1968 when he finished second to Schwarzenegger, who would go onto win the overall title. Bubb competed in the NABBA for much of his career before moving to the IFBB for one year in 1971.
Bubb also had a background in powerlifting, which helped build an insane physique for bodybuilding. He quickly became known for his strength in the gym as he trained with powerlifting in mind. Even in retirement, Bubb continued to train at a high level and enjoyed it even more, according to an interview with DailyMail.
“The actual training I enjoy now more than I did back in the day. I just look forward to coming and getting a buzz out of the after-effect.”
