OLYMPIA 2014 PREDICTIONS

Generation Iron Olympia Predictions

Generation Iron Olympia Predictions

Who will break into the elite top six?

Tomorrow will mark the day we have all been waiting for. Mr. Olympia – the biggest competition in the world that every bodybuilder has been working towards. We’ll be right in the thick of it as it unfolds – but for now we decided to make our picks for who would make it into the prestigious elite six.
.

#6. Victor Martinez

Generation Iron Victor Martinez

Call us biased, but we just have a soft spot for Victor Martinez. The man has had more ups and downs than any bodybuilder should have to deal with and yet still has continued to grow and evolve as a bodybuilder. Perhaps he is past his prime, but we think that Victor deserves a break. Making it into the top six is a true reward for a man that was once considered to deserve the #1 spot.
.

#5. Shawn Rhoden

Rhoden

Shawn Rhoden is a very well decorated bodybuilder. Throughout the past three years he has consistently placed himself in the top five and even earned a first place ranking at the Australian Pro Grand Prix this year. Every year Rhoden proves himself worthy of making the top six. This year shouldn’t be any different.
.

#4. Big Ramy

Generation Iron Big Ramy

Let’s get one thing straight, Big Ramy will win Mr. Olympia – just not this year. Big Ramy carries muscle mass and size that recall the days of Ronnie Coleman. He is truly massive and will one day rise up to claim the Sandow. But he is still young and is missing the extreme shredded look to rise above this year. Next year is an entirely different story though.
.

#3. Kai Greene

Generation Iron Kai Greene

Surprised? The Kai vs. Phil scenario has been constantly argued by almost every bodybuilding fan for the past three years – an uber rivalry that seems to never stop. But behind all of the screams for Kai and the calls for Phil, there is another who should not be forgotten. A man who very well break through…
.

#2. Phil Heath

Generation Iron Phil Heath

What? Surprised again? How is this possible? The 3x winning champ? The man who might very well have the best physique to ever dawn a bodybuilding stage? Blasphemy! Look, we all agree that Phil Heath is a powerhouse bodybuilder not to be reckoned with – but all stars must fade. Will this year be his time to fall? Maybe not, but we have our eyes on another…
.

#1. Dennis Wolf

Generation Iron Dennis Wolf

The Big Bad Wolf himself. A man who is among the largest pros currently competing. Wolf has combined all of the perfect elements into one amazing physique that deserves recognition. Kai Greene vs. Phil Heath is the norm. Dennis Wolf will break that norm and break the cycle once and for all.

What do you think of our predictions? Are we getting a little ahead of ourselves? Let us know who you think will make it to #1 in the comments section below. And be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter to get constant Olympia coverage as the weekend continues.

KAI GREENE ALREADY FEELS THE SANDOW IN HIS HANDS

Generation Iron Kai Greene Olympia Interview

Kai Greene was kind enough to stop by and give us another one of his thoughtful interviews backstage at the Olympia arena. With only a day before the fateful ultimate challenge, Kai seems to have already won. Talking about how heavy the Sandow feels in his hands and where he will place the trophy in his home. Though he claims to simply be joking around – you can tell by his voice and the look in his eye that he fully intends on winning this year. There’s no room for doubt at this point – you have to believe that it is a reality.

As Kai said himself: “Thoughts become things.”

OLYMPIA 2014: CAN PHIL HEATH BE BEAT?

Generation Iron Phil Heath Champion

Generation Iron Phil Heath Champion

Road To Olympia STRIP

Can anyone take down Phil Heath? Does it matter?

Phil Heath is like the Yankees in their prime. An unstoppable force that leaves nothing but victory in its path. He’s the expected winner at this year’s Mr. Olympia and no matter how many people may whisper Kai Greene or Dennis Wolf’s name – even their fans deep down know that the odds are in Phil Heath’s favor.

Much like the Yankees, for many Phil Heath has already won.

But what does that mean for the competitive nature of the sport? When a win is so obvious on the horizon, can anyone really get amped up about the competition? It’s like watching a movie when you already know the twist ending – the excitement and surprise just sort of disappear.

Or maybe the excitement doesn’t disappear. Maybe having a titan like Phil Heath simply fuels the excitement. If it’s assumed by most that Phil will win this competition – that only gives much more ammunition for opposing fans to rally for victory. What if Kai Greene won? What if Dennis Wolf took over? What if a wild card came out of nowhere and changed the game?

In a way, an underdog victory will be so much more memorable, so much more exciting simply because it seems so impossible. Think about it. What would be more memorable? Kai Greene winning the Sandow amongst a bunch of other competitors who all had equal odds of winning or if he surprised the world and took down Phil when no one thought it was possible.

That’s drama. That’s excitement. That’s history.

And what better time for there to be such a surprise? With this year marking the 50th anniversary of Mr. Olympia, it would be so incredibly monumental for a big surprise during the finals. It would mark this anniversary as something etched forever in the story of bodybuilding.

So can Phil Heath be beat this year? Most likely not, but that’s okay. Because as long as an unstoppable titan like Phil exists, there will always be incredibly hungry competitors waiting to take him down. With every Olympia victory the spotlight is further focused on Phil Heath – waiting to catch glimpse of his fall.

Now that’s exciting. That’s competition. That’s bodybuilding.

We just landed in Las Vegas last night and are surrounded by Mr. Olympia fever. You can catch constant coverage of the even right here on our website. As well as sneak peaks into the event before it starts. Be sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook to get all the Olympia updates all week.

LET’S PUMP UP YOUR WEAK BODY PARTS

Generation Iron Pump Up Weak Bodyparts

Generation Iron Pump Up Weak Bodyparts

How to bring up your lagging body parts for a perfect physique.

Everyone has body parts that they like to build the most. Those certain areas that just feel fun and exciting to work out. Whether it be because they are naturally easier for you or just something you find more important – it’s in our nature to favor certain areas.

But what about those neglected muscles. The most common stereotype, tough upper body and scrawny chicken legs, is a perfect example of under utilizing muscles and having an unbalanced physique.

So how do pump up those weak body parts? Typically these areas are the hardest to max out because of a combination of genetics, poor training, and overall neglect. Sadly, the answer to bringing up those weak body parts isn’t a simple one. It differs depending on the person – there’s no magic answer.

But we can break down a few general areas where you can start improving in the hopes that you will be able to find the perfect way to power up those weak spots.
.

Finding Balance Through Imbalance

The natural instinct is to put your body through a balanced workout. That’s what gets drilled into your head by publications and trainers alike. But when you have body parts that are lagging behind you have to put emphasis on imbalance.

So how do you balance your body through an imbalanced workout? Train your stubborn areas twice a week as opposed to just once (assuming your breaking up your workout by muscle area). Just make sure that those target areas are still getting enough rest and that you are supplementing yourself with extra nutrients for the extra work. This can be just the boost you need to start picking up those lagging parts.
.

Don’t Beat Down Your Joints

So your working extra hard on making those muscles pop. Maybe you’re working them twice a week to make up for the imbalance. Does this mean you start plowing away on those isolated areas? Not necessarily. While this is great for maximizing muscle growth – it can also destroy your joints.

So what do you do? Don’t lose your intensity. You need that blast of intensity to really make those muscles explode in size. But you have to listen to your body. When you start performing these extra exercises, pull back if you start to feel excessive pain or soreness. Try to increase the intensity incrementally so that you don’t remain stagnant but prevent yourself from getting injured.
.

Add Some Variety

When you are working out those weakling muscles, try to add variety to what kind of exercises you do and how you perform them. Try all different angles, grips, and foot positions to increase the stress on your muscles. Remember, the goal is to break free from what you traditionally do (since that is what gave you those weaker areas in the first place). Feel it out and find what will give you the best results.

So now you have no excuse for your lagging behind with those weak body parts. Take these guidelines and fine tune them so you can start flexing with the best. What are your weak points? Let us know in the comments section below or on our official Facebook and Twitter pages.
