Hafthor Bjornsson is an absolute savage.

At this point, Icelandic strongman Hafthor Bjornsson has become a household name. Between appearing on multiple seasons of Game of Thrones and coming in second place at the 2017 World’s Strongest Man competition, Hafthor Bjornsson has proven himself to be a very popular figure in the fitness industry. Still hoping to earn the title of World’s Strongest Man, the man that so many have taken to calling The Mountain is hard at work in the hoping to improve his strength.

Recently Hafthor gave an update on his social media showcasing his current physical form that appears very impressive. Standing six feet, nine inches tall and weight in at a whopping 400 lbs, Hafthor is an absolute beast of a man. Of the strongman competitors in the top five, Hafthor is no doubt the most shredded and well muscled. The post below indicates that very fact.

180kg/400lbs bodyweight.. in the best shape of my life and about to squat 440kg/970lbs on Monday. Stay tuned motherfuckers. • • • @australianstrengthcoach @andrimarinn @stefansolvi @roguefitness @sbdapparel

As mentioned in the post, Hafthor is preparing himself to squat almost 1000 lbs and it appears he’s done just that. 970 lbs is just about 22 lbs shy of the world record, so Hafthor is definitely making some impressive gains. Check out the historic squat, the heaviest in Icelandic history, below.

My new PB Squat 440kg/970lbs. This is the heaviest squat in Icelandic history.. 1000lbs getting closer!! Who said tall guys can’t squat ? • ? @olafia_k • @australianstrengthcoach @thorspowergym @stefansolvi @andrimarinn @andrireyr @roguefitness @sbdapparel @oskarphaf @vikingtrips
