WATCH THE MOUNTAIN GO “OVER THE TOP” AGAINST ELITE ARM WRESTLER

If you’ve never seen the movie “Over the top” with Sly Stallone and Bob “Bull” Hurley you need to stop reading this article and go watch it, right now. The 1987 cult classic put competitive arm wrestling on the map (albeit a niche map) and more importantly provided millions of restless young men with hours of entertainment on a Saturday afternoon (thanks channel 11 WPIX).

But now it’s 2016, and even though arm wrestling isn’t exactly a hotbed sport, it’s still one of the most primitive way for men to establish strength, technique, and complete dominance over a competitor. The recent showdown between Hafthor Bjornsson (The Mountain) and 2x world champion Devon Larrat was very reminiscent of the 80’s classic. The Moderately built and dark haired Larrat went up against the 6’9, 420lb rock formation that is “The Mountain” in a David and Goliath like  face off.

Though we won’t tell you who won the match, just know that technique and experience are a big part of any sport, even arm wrestling. What’s awesome about Bjornsson is that he seems to not be afraid to take on anyone at any sport. He recently taking on MMA’s featherweight champion Conor McGregor in an impromptu sparring match which was pretty entertaining to say the least. Though he has size, you’ve got to take your hats off to this egoless gentle giant who acts solely in the name of competition. Good on ya mate!
