THIS IS EGO LIFTING AT ITS WORST (AN EPIC WORKOUT FAIL)

Generation Iron Ego lifting

Do you even lift, brah?

Many bodybuilding newbies start their muscle building endeavor with all the right intentions but with none of the knowledge that a seasoned individual brings to the table. With so many training programs that can be accessed online and bro lifters in the gym, it’s easy to see how a person can start down a dark path only to find no light at the end of the tunnel.

So many new lifters have a perception of what a bodybuilder is supposed to train like. They figure that heavy weight lifting will equal muscle growth and that if they haul a ton of weight that they’ll start getting all the gains they seek. The truth of the matter however is that they have no damn clue what they’re doing and they’re more likely to get themselves injured in the gym because of that fact. But there’s no doubt that the worst thing you can do as a lifter is to lift more weight than necessary. It’s fine to challenge yourself in the gym by lifting considerable weight, but sometimes it doesn’t pay to be an ego lifter.

.

Ego lifters. Perhaps some of the more irritating individuals in the gym. They lift considerable weight simply to boast how strong they are, to prove that they’re the most alpha in the gym. Unfortunately that thought process often sees these individuals receiving a horrible injury or, if they’re luck, failing the lift in a comedic and embarrassing effort. It’s better to fail, look like a fool, and avoid injuries than it is to permanently injure yourself simply because you have a chip on your shoulder.

Cody Montgomery is a young bodybuilder who recently turned pro and hopes to have an impressive showing at this years Arnold Classic event. Even at his relatively young age, Montgomery can make sense out of nonsense and knows how to spot an awful ego lifter in the gym when he sees one as evidenced by the display below. Credit shout out to reddit user Damn_sun for pointing this out on the bodybuilding forums.

Remember guys, it’s not all about the weight you lift but how you lift it ? #facepalm
