Arnold Schwarzenegger Kills It On New Cover Of Cigar Aficionado

Strength Wars Movie

Schwarzenegger REALLY loves cigars.

Everyone’s favorite bodybuilder of all time, Arnold Schwarzenegger, is the first person to appear on the cover of the magazine three separate times. The February 2017 issue, which arrives Jan. 10, follows previous Arnold Schwarzenegger-fronted Summer 1996 and July/August 2003 issues.

For this latest cover story, Marshall Fine spent time with Schwarzenegger at Melody Ranch Motion Picture Studio in Santa Clarita, Calif., where Arnold houses his M47 Patton tank. Fine also followed along as Schwarzenegger and a couple of pals biked early in the morning from Brentwood to Gold’s Gym in Venice for a daily morning workout.

Schwarzenegger’s love of cigars took root in the 1970s. There are some fun anecdotes on that front from Sylvester Stallone, Danny DeVito and Jim Belushi, as well as highlighting by Schwarzenegger of his smoking habits:

“I very rarely buy a cigar because I get so many as gifts. I don’t keep that many around, maybe 200 at any given time.”

“I used to smoke the extra-long ones,” Schwarzenegger says. “I got off them because I smoke less now. Now I like smaller cigars.” Of course, for a man like Schwarzenegger, small is relative. “I like the Partagás [Serie D] No. 4,” he says, referring to Cuba’s most popular robusto. “That’s become one of my favorites. I like some of the non-Cubans, when they’re good. But I love a Cuban cigar when it’s good.”

Towards the end the piece, Fine touches on the allegations of impropriety with women that dogged Schwarzenegger during the final days of his recall campaign for Governor of California. And why, despite not voting for Trump, the three-time cover star is committed to working with the 45th President.
