Globe Viking Press

The Globe Viking Press kicked off action on day two. Competitors were asked to press a globe with handles over their heads. The motion must come below their ears and a signal must be given by the referee before the next rep can begin. Athletes were given 60 seconds to complete as many reps as possible. Bending at the knees is prohibited, meaning that it is an ultimate test of upper-body strength.

Car Walk

The Car Walk is a Strongman classic. Athletes were strapped to the frame of a 1,000-pound Volkswagen Beetle. Once the car was lifted off the ground, competitors would walk through a 20-meter course as quickly as possible. This is a timed event with a 60-second cap. If athletes did not complete the 20 meters, their distance would be calculated following the time limit.

Stone Off

The Stone Off is another staple of the World’s Strongest Man competition. This punched the final five tickets to the finals, along with the competitor who finished at the top of each of the five groups.

There is a total of six stones ranging from 140kg (308lb) to 200kg (440lb). The athlete in third place in each division would be facing off against second place. The third-place Strongman would lift a stone over the post and wait for the other to return it. This would go on until there is a failed lift.
