ARE THESE EXERCISES THE BEST WAY TO DEAL WITH BOREDOM IN THE GYM?

Generation Iron Exercises Boredom in the Gym

Innovative exercises or just crazy dangerous.

When it comes to training the methods utilized can be fairly mundane. Week in and week out you have to do the same lifts over and over again in hopes of reaching hypertrophy and getting that great pump. If you want your physique to be impressive, to grow massive muscle and look like a god then you’re going to have to come to grips with the truth: bodybuilding is boring.

Most people may read that and think “Who the hell cares. You’re in the gym to build muscle not to be entertained.” In reality, this is surely the truth. If you want to see progress then you’re going to focusing more on the end results of your training and nutrition rather than look for some new and exciting way to train. If that were the case then a bodybuilder would switch to crossfit. It may not be the best training endeavor, but they certainly have their fair share of innovative exercises.

.

Still, building muscle is the ultimate goal of a bodybuilder and training should be focused towards that more than anything else. But you have to think that boredom is sure to catch up to you while you’re on the journey to building up your physique. Sometimes through that boredom innovation can be born. Sometimes it could mean doing something new and extremely odd as a means of passing the time. Just ask Bradley Martyn about that. The man does barbell squats on segways.

But it seems like Sadik Hadzovic is following in Martyn footsteps and trying to pull off some pretty crazy lifts in the gym. He insists, “This is a real thing” in the post. But we have to admit – there’s a big difference between trying this “Indian style squat” and trying to squat on a hover board. Check out Sadik’s video below:

Ultimately, we here at Generation Iron like to live by the old expression – if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. It might get repetitive and boring but the classic moves will always be classics for a reason – they work. So if you find yourself trying something new (like Crossfit in general) in an attempt to mix up your workout, just make sure of one thing: that you’re not going to hurt yourself. It’s not worth it.

What do you think of Sadik’s “Indian style squat?” Is it innovative or just crazy? Let us know in the comments and forums. Also, be sure to follow Generation Iron on Facebook and Twitter.
