You’ve probably already heard all the news and rumors about The Rock running for president of the United States of America. Of course you have, the election season is upon us and people are looking for headlines as we head closer to the General Election. But an interesting piece of news broke this past week that actually carries a bit more merit than most – The Washington Post published an article on how, if The Rock ran for president, he might actually have a good chance at winning. A really good chance. So how did The Rock respond? He finds this idea very “alluring.” Not a dedicated run for office – but maybe in 4 more years things will change.

Besides, The Rock has bigger fish to fry for now – namely creating his own YouTube channel and taking over the video end of the internet. Basically, this month Dwayne The Rock Johnson is killing it. Get the full update on everything he has in store above.

There are many different philosophies and ideologies involving bodybuilding. For some, the idea of building massive muscle, to be the biggest man in the room is a goal that is held above all else. For others simply being lean and cut is all they need to be satisfied with their physique. There are many schools of thought when it comes to deciding on what the best looking physique truly is.

In this current climate of bodybuilding it’s pretty obvious that mass monsters are dominating the scene. But lately we’re starting to see a shift towards a more classic bodybuilding physique. With the introduction of the Classic Physique division the fans and officials are showing their appreciation for such a body type.

Since the divisions introduction more attention has been focused on classic physiques and how truly impressive they are. One individual that easily has the genetics and the capability to win a Classic Physique event is Robert Timms. Going by the tag of “mrclassicphysiq” on Instagram it’s a no brainer as to what kind of physique Timms finds to be the most superior. Timms isn’t simply just a bodybuilder with a love for classic physiques. He is a cancer survivor, a natural bodybuilder, and an inspirational fitness trainer. For those of you who don’t know, a landmine is an attachment placed on end of a barbell in order to keep it stationary in order to move the other weighted end of the barbell safety. You can either attach it to a stationary object (like a smith machine) or to weighted plates. If you’re lifting at home or don’t happen to have one near by you can always make an adequate substitute by placing a towel in the corner of a room and placing the unweighted end of the barbell against the towel – then go to town.

MARK HUNT LOOKING BEASTLY FOR BROCK LESNAR FIGHT

When it was announced that Brock Lesnar would be coming back to the UFC I must have been in the minute minority who happened to care less about the former Heavyweight champion’s return. That by no means is a dig at Brock Lesnar, far from it. But when Lesnar walked away from the sport after his devastating loss to Alistair Overeem it appeared that the former champ had nothing left in the tank. There’s a lot to wonder on why he’s making his return, but nonetheless, he’ll be making his return against a monster of a man. Over the years Mark Hunt has become a true mixed martial artist. With that said no one would mistake the kickboxer to be some kind of ground specialist submitting opponents left and right. But what he has improved upon is his wrestling defense and learning to transition from striking to wrestling seamlessly. If you would have matched up Mark Hunt against Brock Lesnar some years ago then in all likelihood most of the MMA world would probably concede that the “Super Samoan” would have had his hands full with the former Heavyweight champion. Now, well, let’s just say that it’s Lesnar who’s going to have a tall task ahead of him. While everyone waits in anticipation for Brock Lesnar’s return, they should also be checking in on Mark Hunt who looks to be in the greatest shape of his career for this match up. Mark Hunt is a man who takes fighting seriously and from the looks of his physique he’s taken things up a notch for his bout at UFC 200. JOANNA JEDRZEJCZYK MAKES A BID FOR 125lb WEIGHT CLASS

You can’t stop change.

If you give a mouse a cookie, he’s going to want some milk. The title of the popular children’s book, might not be as silly as you think. It’s a deep commentary on the slippery slope on human nature, and ultimately the only answer is…more. Strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk is set to take on #1 Contender Claudia Gadelha as the main event of the TUF season finale. The highly anticipated matchup has drawn even more heat after the airing of the show where Claudia and Joanna go at each other’s throat even to the point where they get into an unofficial brawl and the end of taping – head kicks and all. Despite the first fight being razor thin and the beef between these two coming to a crescendo, Joanna is finding a way to look ahead. All the way to the top of the not yet existent Women’s strawweight title.

“I think it’s going to be the last fight between me and Claudia Gadelha, because I have plans to move to a different weight class, to 125 if there would be an option to fight for a title next there,” Jedrzejczyk said. “We will see. I’ll focus on this fight and I think that I’m definitely going to win this fight.”

When asked to clarify:

“Yes, I want to be the first UFC fighter to hold belts in two different weight classes.”

This is an interesting comment seeing as Dana White and Lorenzo Fertitta have been sticklers in regards to adding new divisions to the women’s weight classes. His denial of a featherweight division kept Cris “Cyborg” out of the UFC for years, and even though she’s currently on the roster, at 140lbs she’s essentially an exhibition match. But the 125lb weight class is much different. There are lots of women who fall in between the 20lb gap of 115 to 135, you would see a lot of fighters either dropping down or going up to be at a more natural weight. The fight between Joanna Calderwood and Letourneau at UFC Fight Night 89 only makes matters worse, with the strawweights putting on a barn burning performance at the catch weight of 125.

“I predict that, so I know it’s going to happen,” Jedrzejczyk said. “It was a good fight between Valerie and JoJo, the first catch weight at 125, but I think we need that division. So many girls from bantamweight can go down, so many girls from strawweight division can go up. So we should make that division the next division.”

This is especially interesting for the current bantamweight champion Miesha Tate. The seattle native recently admitted on the Joe Rogan Podcast (JRE) that she walks around at about 140-145 lbs, making it more than plausible she could drop down in weight if the opportunity presented itself. Miesha Tate vs. Joanna Jedrzejczyk for the flyweight championship? What do you guys think? No matter who the opponent is, Joanna Plans on being a champion at multiple weight classes. But not just a champion, a trailblazer.

“I don’t know,” she said. “I want to be the first champion of the 125-pound division.”

OPINION: ARE BODYBUILDERS OF TODAY SENDING A HORRIBLE MESSAGE?

As a bodybuilder packing on muscle your frame has always been the name of the game. You can’t simply lose body fat and call yourself a pursuer of muscle gain. The reality is that if you want to build a quality physique then that means building up muscle mass. Bodybuilders of old were perfect examples of how a physique should be built up. They had heavily muscled frames, but they managed to stay shredded and defined, maintain a narrow waist and truly show what it means to have the perfect physical form.

Sure, everyone is entitled to their opinion. The mass monsters of today may be considered by many to be the ultimate bodybuilders. But in reality that’s simply far from the truth…from one person’s perspective anyhow. Bodybuilding as a purely aesthetic pursuit should focus on maintaining a more realistic frame while building lean muscle. These days however the whole viewpoint has been skewed and aesthetics are the last thing that’s considered by many of the best bodybuilders in the world. It unwittingly sends a terrible message to the fans who follow the sport.

Everyone is going to have their own idea of what the perfect physique is, but there just seems to be something wrong with the idea that building more and more…and more muscle until you begin to look inhuman is the answer to becoming the ultimate form. There’s a reason why men like Arnold Schwarzenegger have been rallying to change how the masses view the sport. Sure, he’s a man from a different era who wants to see a return to the days of old, but is that truly such a bad thing? If it is then why invent the Class Physique division as a response?

It’s clear that the spawning of the Classic Physique division has been set up not to help those who genetically are incapable of building massive muscle, but instead spread the message that bodybuilding as a pursuit is about aesthetics as much as it is about muscle. Some will disagree and claim that mass monsters are the ultimate form bodybuilder, but the love of the Golden Era proves that there are still those who perceive that the Classic Physique aesthetic is the greatest form a bodybuilder can hope to achieve.
