FIGHTING WORDS: LUKE ROCKHOLD VS MICHAEL BISPING

fighting words rockhold vs bisping headerWho will be the Middleweight kingpin?

Fighting Words pits two of our Generation Iron MMA writers against each other in a heated debate on big fight predictions. Jonathan Salmon: So it looks like destiny will finally have it’s day as Michael Bisping challenges Luke Rockhold for the UFC Middleweight strap at UFC 199. Say what you will about Bisping, but he may have the drive and ability to confound Rockhold in the octagon and finally win the must sought after championship title. Rockhold is great, but the hunger that Bisping possesses may carry him through. Lionel Harris-Spence: No…it won’t. While I know Micheal Bisping thinks its his “destiny” to win the championship, contrary evidence points to 2nd round K.O. Sure, he’s charismatic, and if he could talk as good as he fights then he would’ve won the championship a long time ago. Unfortunately for him Rockhold is bigger, stronger, and a beast on the ground…game, blouses. JS: But you’re forgetting about the unofficial first match that they had. The one where Michael Bisping destroyed Luke Rockhold. I think Bisping has enough hustle and ring generalship to throw Rockhold off his game. If he puts the pressure on him, stays busy, and avoid Rockhold’s counter right hook, then we could be looking at a new champion here. LHS: But you’re forgetting about the actual match, the real first one. The one where Michael Bisping was over matched all around and got beat up until he was choked out with ONE ARM. The one we actually saw, held by a sanctioning body? Yeah that fight. Rockhold’s athleticism combined with his 6’4′” frame is handful for anyone, nevertheless the ageing Micheal Bisping. No amount of hoping and wishing is going to get him out of round 2! JS: Hmm, you’ve got a point. Well, even though he has a chance I think the fact that I read the word athleticism has somehow brought me to a new conclusion. I’m not sure it will be done inside two rounds, but I do think that a victor will come about in the third, namely…Luke Rockhold. Damn you and your convincing argument! LHS: But it really wasn’t that convincing….I just spat out soundbites that everyone already knew. JS: I know, but I had to make it interesting… Lionel’s Pick: Luke Rockhold by TKO in Round 2 Jonathan’s Pick: Luke Rockhold by submission in Round 3 Who do you think will leave The Forum as the Middleweight champ? WHY BUILDING MUSCLE SHOULDN’T BE YOUR MAIN GOAL

the true goal headerBuilding muscle isn’t the most important aspect of bodybuilding.

When you ask newbie bodybuilders what their ultimate goal is as a bodybuilder most are likely to tell you the same thing: build muscle. It seems pretty obvious doesn’t it. What other reason is their to begin bodybuilding if your intention isn’t to build muscle? No one begins bodybuilding in order to lose weight or compete in powerlifting competition. The point of bodybuilding is to achieve the best physical shape you can through hard training and proper nutrition. But in reality the answer to question should be far more inventive than simply “building muscle.”

The better answer: becoming a master of movements.

.

“Of course you have to get the movements right, that’s obvious.” This is something you’re likely to be thinking. “You’re stating the obvious!” But you’d be surprised how many individuals don’t even think about that fact. So many people are focused on the here and now that they barely consider what the future holds. Not just the future five years from now when you have an impressive physique, but twenty years from now. Thirty years from now. Do you want to look your best for a handful of year then just simply fall off or do you want to look as impressive as possible for as long as possible?

That’s why mastering the movements of the most essential exercises should be every bodybuilder’s top priority. Doing so will help prevent needless and avoidable injuries and will guarantee that as you lift heavier weight that you’ll have a strong base to fall back on. Rather focusing purely on building the body, becoming a true master of the squat, bench, and deadlift it will ensure that you’ll be keeping your gains for years to come. Bodybuilding may be about building muscle, but how long you see those results will be entirely up to you and your thought process.

What do you think is the most important aspect of bodybuilding?

WATCH: Rare Video Of Tom Platz Interviews Top Pros On Steroids

Strength Wars Movie

It looks like steroids is the only way to the top in this sport.

Bodybuilding is an endeavor that requires the men and women involved to follow a strict regimen that consists of hard weight training, a bare bones diet plan, and extreme dedication and will power. In order to achieve your greatest physique you must be pushing yourself to the absolute limit. You’re muscles should feel like they’ve been destroyed by the end of your workout, the true indicator that gains are being made. However, for those who compete on the pro stage there’s a question that constantly arises: does steroid truly make the difference between your average bodybuilder and the best professionals in the world?

While many have their own thoughts, concerns, and considerations, the fact that steroids is a part of the sport that will always exist is unarguably true. Whether a bodybuilder admits their steroid use or not, many fans will come to their own opinions on whether or not a pro is utilizing steroids to get their position. Even if a bodybuilder were to use steroids it doesn’t change the fact that a ton of hard work and dieting will still be the main source of producing a top flight competitor.

Where some pros will refuse to talk about their steroid use, old school bodybuilder Tom Platz has shown that has no such compulsion. For Platz educated the masses on how the anabolic substance is utilized has been a mission of his for years. Many fans and aspiring bodybuilders have had ambitions about becoming professionals and as such have utilized steroids incorrectly over the years. Tom Platz wanted to educated aspiring bodybuilders so much that he ventured to make an educational video featuring some of the top bodybuilders in the world at the time. Take a look at the video below as some of the best bodybuilders in history break down their steroid usage and program.

Do you think steroids are dangerous?

SHOULD BRYAN CARAWAY ANSWER CODY GARBANDT’S CALL?

Cody Garbrandt header

Put some “respeck” on my name

In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani of the MMA Hour, Cody Garbrandt made it quite clear who he wanted next, and that man is Brian Caraway. Coming off of an electrifying main event KO win of former undefeated Brazilian Thomas Almeida, Cody Garbrandt was fairly modest in octagon interview, not calling out his next opponent, as has become commonplace in the UFC. But when Ariel spoke to Garbrandt on tuesday, it seemed he had made up his mind, and was coming for now #4 ranked Mr. Tate. https://youtu.be/dEX8VQpUkz0?t=19m36s At first glance, this looks like a great matchup. A dynamic striker vs. a tough wrestler/grappling artist – what’s not to love? But in this all too cut throat world of MMA, does this fight really make sense for Brian Caraway? Sure, if he wins the potential UFC 203 matchup he certainly would get more publicity and no doubt be next in line for a title shot. Cody Garbrandt is a fairly big name, and with Sunday’s quick disposal of highly touted Almeida, he’s gotten even bigger. However, Cody will be just cracking the top #15 with this recent win and Caraway has just beaten the #4 ranked “funkmaster”. Caraway gives his thoughts on the matter later on in the same show. https://youtu.be/dEX8VQpUkz0?t=1h19m40s Now before you fight fans go calling him “scared”, listen to the man’s logic. If Aljamain Sterling would’ve won that fight, he most likely would’ve gotten the title shot, so why should Caraway’s destiny be any different?  In the fight business you’ve got to look out for “A – #1”, if you’ve got the leverage use it. Caraway doesn’t exactly have the biggest personality in the world so he’s going to have to use his record to get ahead, and that’s exactly what he’s doing. Besides, would Conor McGregor take an unranked fighter when he was ranked #4? Come to think of it, that’s around the time he fought Jose Aldo for the title. You’ve got to treat yourself like a business, and whether you like Brian Caraway or not, you’ve got to respect his mindset. Check out the full interview above. Do you think Bryan Caraway should fight Cody Garbrandt for the fans? Or has he earned a chance at the strap?

UFC 199 BREAKDOWN: DOMINICK CRUZ VS URIJAH FABER

cruz vs faber headerThe rubber match is upon us and their can be only one winner.

The co-main event features a rubber match between two of the best bantamweights in the division’s history. To say Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber aren’t the best of friends would be an understatement. Hell, to say that they hate each other is a bit of an understatement as well. These two men have had bad blood since the first time they faced each other in the WEC. Back then Faber was the Featherweight champion and number one in the world, while Cruz was the young prospect unknown to the masses, set up as fodder for the champ to quickly dispose of. As things turned out, it played out as the mismatch it was intended to be. Since then, Cruz has gone undefeated, impressing more and more with every victory, including one over his rival Faber. Now one and one, the two men will settle things in this rubber match that is sure to put a capper on the rivalry. A wizard of movement, Dominick Cruz has blended his kickboxing game with potent wrestling to make a style all his own. He’s fleet of foot, nearly impossible to hit, and knows how to win. Perhaps the biggest knock on Cruz is his lack of finishes, a drawback of his constant movement. He never stays in one place long enough to plant his feet and fire hard power shots. But in the scrambles he can be vicious, especially if he gets his man down as Takeya Mizugaki found out the hard way. Cruz did face some trouble in his last bout with TJ Dillashaw’s leg kicking game, but Cruz is a tactical fighter and will likely have made the adjustments needed to fend off that particular chink in his armor. Urijah Faber is perhaps the most talented fighter to never hold a UFC belt. Though he was the WEC Featherweight champion for years it still looks the gravitas that being UFC champion holds. Faber is explosive, knows when to recover his gas tank, and does extremely well in scrambles. The problem for Faber in this match is that his weapons are far more limited than Cruz’s own. Faber knows how to finish fights, but doing so against a defensive based fighter like Cruz will prove to be a tall task. Faber will have to add some kicks to his game, time takedowns, and throw plethora of different punches in order clip Cruz. For all the talent, charisma, and athleticism that Faber possesses it just isn’t enough to overcome an all around fighter like Cruz. The champion knows when to strike, when to avoid offense, and exactly when to mix up his wrestling to throw off his opponent’s rhythm. Look for Dominick Cruz to beat Urijah Faber by unanimous decision, ending their long feud. Who do you think will be taking home the Bantamweight strap? IS THIS A BETTER WAY TO CONSUME YOUR EGG WHITES?

Generation Iron Eggwhites 24-7

Generation Iron Eggwhites 24-7

More protein and faster.

You can ask any bodybuilder trying to achieve the ultimate physique and most will tell you the hardest part isn’t getting into the gym or deciding how to do their training split. More than likely the biggest problem they face during their bodybuilding endeavors is knowing exactly what they need to put into their bodies in order to achieve the gains they desire.

Of course many know the basics of achieving a massive and shredded physique. Follow you macronutrition to the T, making sure to balance protein, carbs, and fats in an attempt to put the body in the right condition to spark growth. For many that means eating lean protein like chicken breast, carbs from vegetables and perhaps healthy fats like the kind derived from avocados. It can be a pretty simple question to answer as to what to put into your body. But that’s not where the biggest challenge comes in. What about the bodybuilder who is constantly on the move?

It’s perhaps easiest to get carbs and fats at your local thrift store in the form of nuts like almonds. Protein on the other hand can be a more difficult food source to procure. You could get one of those protein drinks that they sell these days, but often times those products are loaded with sugar, sodium, and all different kinds of nonsense that is sure to do more harm than good. If there was a way to obtain pure protein without additives or junk and carry it on the go life would be simpler.

Well, it seems that Egg Whites 24/7 has come up with a way for any bodybuilder to get a tremendous amount of protein all in one shot. Their liquid egg white products are exactly what a bodybuilder needs when they’re looking to ingest protein on the go with no added ingredients. It’s fat and cholesterol free, offers one gram of carbohydrates and 26 grams of protein per serving meaning that hitting your protein goals have never been easier.

Who has time to crack open eggs and separate the yolk from the egg whites? We definitely don’t – and you shouldn’t have to. But if you want to save time and be a total badass at the same time – you can chug down some raw egg whites (or cook it if that’s what you’re into…) like Rocky and get all the protein you need immediately. Don’t worry – Eggwhites 24/7 guarantees that you can slurp these down completely raw and completely safe.

So is Eggwhites 24/7 completely necessary for your bodybuilding diet? No – but is it an awesome product that fits perfectly in line with a bodybuilding lifestyle? Hell yes. So if you want to mix up your egg game – try these guys out at their official website right here.

Are you looking for a way to get more quality protein into your diet?
