Regan Grime surprises all by stepping on stage in Classic Physique at the New York Pro.

Rumors flew months ago that Regan Grimes would be dropping down into the Classic Physique division… and for a long while Regan said nothing to deny it. But he also never confirmed it either. Then Regan gave Generation Iron the exclusive – it’s was all a rumor and that he would be staying in Open Bodybuilding.

But lo and behold, as the New York Pro 2018 started up with the prejudging, Regan Grimes stepped onto the stage in the Classic Physique division. An epic psych-out in the final hour. It all started with the New York Pro weigh ins – where it became clear that Regan was much lighter than necessary to adequately compete in Open Bodybuilding and shortly after it was confirmed with his name on the line up for the prejudging… Regan Grimes will be stepping on stage in Classic Physique.

Now the real question is – why the double fake? Was it to keep Regan focused without distractions of the breaking news? Was it to surprise the other competitors and throw them off psychologically? Or does Regan just like messing around with people? We currently don’t know for sure – but we will find out soon enough if his tactic helped or hurt his chances of becoming a champion at the New York Pro 2018… just in a different division than expected.
