Another controversial UFC headliner is making news, though Darren Till might not be the one you expect.
UFC middleweight Darren Till called out Yoel Romero on Instagram this weekend — though he later admitted he was “blind drunk” after the fact. The post has since been deleted, but Till uploaded a picture of Romero to Instagram with the caption “Let’s go @yoelromeromma.”
Till has previously expressed that he would not want to fight Romero, as seen here on Jimmy Clarke’s Twitter:

Till apparently did not realize he had called out Romero to fight until the next morning, when his girlfriend told him.
“I was blind drunk. Blind drunk. Yes, so my friend opened up a great bar in Liverpool, we got invited to the open and I was celebrating the win,” Till told MMAUK. “So, I went onto google, I’ll get an image of Yoel, cause he is a scary dude, I said I’ll post that. He was like, really, bro? I said, why not, let’s start a little controversy. So, I tagged him, “let’s go,” and it just blew up…I remember the next morning I woke up and my girl…was like you called Yoel out. Everyone knows when I’m going on a tirade on Twitter it is because I’m having a drink. It is never normal. I’m having fun.”
Till has since deleted the post and walked his challenge back, but if he wins his next fight against Robert Whittaker, he’s looking at a top 5 title fight for sure. Even though it was a drunk mistake, this might be a fight that was meant to be.
