IS HOLLY HOLM ALREADY LOOKING PAST MIESHA TATE?

BIGGER and better…

In an interview last Monday, bantamweight champ Holly Holm’s manager (Lenny Fresquez) expressed concerns that Ronda may not be willing to take on the current women’s champion again. If that ends up being the case – he has no exceptions to a catchweight bout against current and long time Invicta champ Chris the “Cyborg” Santos.

“That’s why I offered the [Cyborg] fight at 140,” Fresquez told Lance Pugmire of the Los Angeles TImes. “We’d take that fight if Ronda needs more time to make up her mind.” “That’s my theory,” Fresquez said. “I hope I’m wrong. I haven’t been wrong yet.

As Cyborg is currently fighting at a 145lb weight class this would mean either Holly Holm would have to go up to 145 or they would have to fight a catchweight bout at 140lbs, which Fresquez is currently advocating for. Although UFC president Dana White didn’t give a definite yay or nay to the request, a blind man could read between the lines on this one.

“[Holm] probably could [fight at 145], but we’re not entertaining the 145-pound division,” White told Pugmire. “I think [Holm] will be at 135 the rest of her career.” “It’s not even in our thought process”.

In Regards to Ronda Rousey, Dana has high hopes for her comeback and is expecting her to face the winner of the Holly Holm vs. Miesha Tate bout next saturday at UFC 197. He says that after the public reveal of “suicidal thoughts” on the “Ellen” show, she’s now in a better place.

“She realizes it wasn’t the end of the world. People can overcome anything. Bad things happen to us at certain points in our life. … You overcome it, you come out of it. But at that moment, it doesn’t seem like you can.” “[Rousey’s] one of the most talented human beings I’ve ever met, a very good friend, a loyal person. She’s worked very hard and busted her … for this company, been very good to everybody close to her,” White said. “So I think she can do anything she wants to do, and I believe if she sets her mind to coming back — and obviously styles make fights, so she needs to realize what she did wrong in that first fight and fix it. But if anyone’s capable of doing that, it’s Ronda Rousey.”

As usual, Dana White’s favoritism rears it’s ugly head as it’s all about “Ronda, Ronda, Ronda.” Let’s face it, if Ronda Rousey was in fighting shape, she’d be co-main eventing the card with Holly Holm. Instead of the champ having her say it’s “Ronda, are you okay honey?…would you like to fight now?”. Honestly I would like to see the re-match between Rousey and Holm – what I’m raging against is letting personal relationships get in the way of the sport. Dana doesn’t even hide it anymore. In Dana White’s defense he’s been against a women’s featherweight class (145 lbs) for a while now. So Lenny Fresquez could only put up but so much of an argument for that one. However, Dana also said women would never fight in the UFC and we see how that went. What I don’t understand is if Dana can sign money grabs such as CM Punk, or turn every fighter into a promo cutting machine, then why wouldn’t he jump at the chance to make a fight the fans want to see? Fan likes equal dollars. The 145 weight class would definitely be interesting, and Chris “Cyborg” in the UFC would be even more interesting. Could he be trying to protect a certain someone perhaps?… What do you think of Holly’s request? Reasonable or ludicrous?
