Former NPC Champion Matt McLaughlin Has Passed Away

Matt McLaughlin was victorious during the 1992 NPC Teen National Championships.

Former NPC champion Matt McLaughlin has passed away. The news was shared by longtime friend Kevin Mcgaunn, on Facebook.

Mcgaunn, along with many other friends and fans, shared tributes to McLaughlin on social media:

“My heart is heavy as I share the news that my dear friend Matt McLaughlin has passed away today. It is with deep sadness that I write this to let our friends know of his passing. Matt was a generous, and caring person who touched the lives of many. He will be greatly missed and remembered with love and respect. Please keep his family in your thoughts during this difficult time. Rest in peace, Matt.”

Matt McLaughlin enjoyed a brief but successful career on the bodybuilding stage. This started at a young age as he was able to build an impressive physique during his teen years and turn it into victories on stage.

Matt McLaughlin’s Competition History

Matt McLaughlin’s biggest victory of his career came in 1992 when he was crowned NPC Teen National Champion. This would be the first of multiple championships at the NPC level.

In 1993, McLaughlin competed in the Light-Heavyweight division and won first place at the NPC North American Championships. He eventually made his way up to the Heavyweight division before he stopped competing in 2001.

1997

  • Massachusetts Championships – NPC, HeavyWeight, 2nd

2001

  • Gold’s Classic (New Jersey) – NPC, HeavyWeight, 8th
  • Ironman Championships – NPC, Light-HeavyWeight, 2nd
