Jim Arrington officially holds the record as the world’s oldest bodybuilder.

Jim Arrington has dealt with many health issues over the course of his life, especially as a child, but has defeated all odds. At 90 years old, he is the world’s oldest bodybuilder and continues to train and compete to this day.

Arrington was born premature and had to deal with many health issues over the course of his childhood. As he got older, Arrington gained a passion for fitness. It sparked when he wanted to be like his childhood favorite superheroes. He decided to begin going to the gym and training his physique.

Arrington began training as a teenager in the 1940s and has not stopped to this day. He is often seen at the legendary Gold’s Gym in Venice Beach. He typically tries twice a week for at least two hours.

As the years have gone on, Arrington is not content with just remaining active in the gym. He is also active on stage. He last competed in 2022 and shared that he has no plans of retirement. Arrington will continue to look for bodybuilding shows he can enter and show off his physique on stage.

Jim Arrington Shares Secret To Longevity

Jim Arrington has been acknowledged by the Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest bodybuilder in the world. In a recent YouTube video shared by the publication, Arrington discussed some the secrets that have worked for him over the years.

Arrington has figured out what has worked for him in the gym. He is able to switch his training routine to keep his body guessing.

“That’s the whole thing about bodybuilding. It’s adaption.”

Most importantly, Arrington has been able to keep a consistent diet and change what he needs to. As he has gotten older, Arrington has had to change certain aspects of his diet and shy away from the typical protein-based meal plan. He was able to eat milk and beef because he was not allergic.

“Those were the two foods that I’m not allergic to. But they lead to inflammation. I changed my diet entirely. I figured if I did that, I could continue training and I could keep this thing up.”

There are many fitness enthusiasts that have maintained an insane level of success at an older age. Rudy Kadlub is an example of what can be done when you are determined. He continues to set a new PR deadlift each year on his birthday in his 70s.

They say that age is just a number and that is shown in fitness on many occasions. As for Jim Arrington, he has had this passion for fitness and bodybuilding all of his life. To this day, he continues to inspire others and that is what keeps him going.

“What inspires me is the people that come up and say I inspire them.”
