2024 World’s Strongest Man Day 1 Qualifier is underway – here’s our complete breakdown & live results.

The 2024 World’s Strongest Man competition will begin this week featuring the strongest athletes in the world looking to take home the most-coveted prize in Strongman. The action will take place from May 1-5 in Myrtle Beach, SC.

The qualifying round of the 2024 World’s Strongest Man consists of two days – running on Wednesday and Thursday. The athletes are separated into groups where they compete for points. Only 10 athletes will qualify for the finals. After a rest day on Friday, the finals stage begins running through Saturday and Sunday.

2024 World’s Strongest Man: Day One Qualifier Results

The first day of qualifiers featured three events — the Webster Stones, deadlift ladder, and the sandbag steeplechase. This is the first day of two qualifiers where competitors will earn points in hopes of making it through to the finals over the weekend.

Webster Stones 

The Webster Stones kicked off the action during the 2024 WSM competition. Athletes were asked to lift two massive boulders attached to metal rings for distance. The boulders differed in weight with the first weighing 113kg (250lb) and the second 136kg (300lb). Competitors must carry a ring and boulder in each hand and walk for the maximum distance possible.

Deadlift Ladder

The Deadlift Ladder is the perfect combination of speed and strength. Athletes were asked to deadlift five increasing weights for time. The competitor that completed all five lifts in the fastest time would take home the most points. If you did not complete all five lifts, you would also be scored on time. The weights were as followed: 300kg (661lb), 320kg (705lb), 340kg (750lb), 360kg (794lb), and 380kg (838lb).

Sandbag Steeplechase

For the sandbag steeplechase, athletes had to carry three sandbags weighing 176 to 264 pounds. The athletes carried each bag down a course over a log. After each bag carry, they then had to run over to the other side, pick up the bag again, and run to the podium at the other end of the course.
