eat sugar headerGet some sugar in your life.

When most people involved in fitness hear the word sugar they start quaking in their boots, in fear of the sugar monster that will steal their gains. For years diets have been hitting on the fact that sugars are horrible for you, that they’ll kill your gains, that they’ll make you fat. To extent that isn’t too far from the truth. The problem is they aren’t telling you the whole story.

So many people refuse to eat fruits believing that the sugar levels present will absolutely destroy your gains, but this couldn’t be farther from the truth. The kind of sugars that will be problematic for your gains is entirely different than what you’ll find in fruits. Fructose, the sugar found in fruits, has been built up to be this demon that will undoubtedly give you love handles and destroy your gains. The problem isn’t with eating fruits which aren’t exceptional high in sugar or calories. The true problem can be found in candy bars, cookies, and other snacks that are high in calories.

These kinds of unhealthy snacks obviously do you a disservice because you never quite feel like these snacks are filling in any way and you can easily create a habit of eating more than is necessary which can eventually lead to going over your maintenance calories and then eventually turn to fat. In reality sugar isn’t necessarily the big culprit, though your sugar intake should be monitored for other reasons such as diabetes. Candy bars, cookies, pies, and cakes are filled with sugar while at the same time being calorie dense which means putting your gains in jeopardy.

As a bodybuilder you should want to have some quality sugars in your diet. Why? Well the truth is that for an extremely active individual most sugars are broken down as fuel for your workout. For a person who trains and trains hard the effect of sugars from fruits, and even the occasional candy bar now and again, is going to do nothing but ensure that you’re engines are revving, particularly if consumed before training. Get some healthy sugars in your life if you’re looking to be at your best during training. It will help you increase not diminish your chances for getting gains.
