NAVY MAN BREAKS WORLD RECORD BY PERFORMING 5,804 PULL UPS IN 24 HOURS

Generation Iron Pull Ups World Record

Infinite Pull Ups.

People talk about Army strong but Navy fit ain’t too bad either. Navy Air Traffic controller Michael McCastle has just broke the world record for the most pull ups performed in 24 hrs. Although this is his second attempt, quit is not in this man’s vocabulary, this time he would not be denied.

To make the feat even more incredible, he performed the daring attempt while wearing a 30 lb vest. When asked “why the vest?” he simply replied, “I wanted to add the extra pack to represent their burden that they carry,” McCastle said, referring to wounded veterans “They don’t take that pack off. They carry it with them for the rest of their lives.” Michael has ingeniously found a way to combine his passion for fitness with his appreciation for our men and women in uniform to raise awareness for Operation Enduring Warrior and other veteran organizations.

So how many did he do exactly? Michael performed 5,804 pull ups correctly in a 24 hr period, beating the old record by 3 pull ups. Although his record is extremely impressive – the real reason he did it was to pay respect to his fallen comrades and for all the men and women who serve. Here’s what Michael had to say on his face book after it was all said and done.

“Records will be made, broken and even forgotten.. but there are men and women who have given life, limb and so much more for their country and those they love. To me, that is immortal and should always be remembered,” he wrote. “This event was a small gesture to the ones who suffer in silence and refuse to be defined, held down or limited by their setbacks. The ones who find a way to win no matter what. My body hurts and I may be broken…but I will recover. I only ask that you please remember the brave souls who have fought and returned home, still carrying that heavy pack–the burden of the enduring warrior–but still face their daily challenges with a smile and with no regrets because they now have an intimate understanding of the price of freedom.”
