Dexter Jackson sends a message out to his fans after placing fourth at Olympia 2019.
Before the Olympia 2019 weekend there were many who believed that this was the year Dexter Jackson would become an Olympia champion again. After a somewhat lackluster year in 2018 due to Jackson’s trainer recovering from cancer – it seemed everything was in Dexter’s favor for a better physique and a strong chance for a win at Olympia 2019. This was in part due to the likes of Shawn Rhoden, Big Ramy, and Phil Heath not competing to potentially challenge Jackson’s physique. The division was wide open for Dexter Jackson to sweep up and become Mr. O again.
But that’s not what happened. Instead, Dexter Jackson showed up on Friday looking a little flat and fighting just for a fifth or sixth placing based on what we saw the judges organize during the prejudging callouts. Jackson was able to improve from Friday to Saturday and rise up ultimately to fourth place – but it wasn’t enough to take down Brandon Curry, William Bonac, and the surprise high placing of Hadi Choopan.
So how does Dexter Jackson feel about his placing and what does it mean for his future? Jackson posted a video on his social media directly to the fans in the aftermath of the Olympia 2019 and explains his mindset after landing fourth place. Ultimately, he’s extremely happy with the placing and also happy to have such a challenge among his peers on the stage. And to the haters? Well he’s just going to block those guys.
