2023 Olympia Men’s 212 Prejudging Report & Analysis

Highlights from the 2023 Olympia Men’s 212 prejudging.

The 2023 Olympia kicked off on Friday morning with the first set of prejudging and Men’s 212 hit the stage for the first time. Reigning champion Shaun Clarida returned to defend his title and compete in search of his third overall.

Clarida was qualified for both 212 and Men’s Open in 2022 but opted to regain his title  rather than switching divisions. This time around, he was solely focused on competing in Men’s 212 and will be the name to beat on Friday night. Clarida headlined the first callout, along with three others who finished in the top five last year.

Angel Calderon Frias was the runner-up to Clarida in 2022 and joined him in the first callout once again. Early on, it was Keone Pearson who spent time in the center next to Clarida. Judges made sure to put the competitors through rounds of posing to get as good a comparison as possible.

Kerrith Bajjo joined this trio in the fourth callout. Once again, it was Clarida and Pearson matched up in the center of the stage. Early in the show, it looks as though there might be a clear top-tier in Men’s 212. This was solidified when Clarida and Pearson were brought back out for the fifth and final callout for further comparison with just the two on stage.

This could be the duo that is fighting for the title come Friday night. After the prejudging round, the Men’s 212 division is beginning to take shape. Below, check out a full breakdown of how the callouts went on Friday morning for Men’s 212.
