Alan Ritchson has maintained an impressive physique and showed how he eats and exercises daily.

Alan Ritchson has put on size for roles in the past but for his job in “Reacher,” the actor was able to take it to another level. The actor sported a crazy amount of muscle mass to play the special investigator in the hit series that has now been greenlit for a third season, and it has left people wondering how he did it. Alan Ritchson recently shared that he ate upwards of 4,500 caloires daily to help put on 30 pounds of muscle and now, he has taken fans through tour of his fridge and home gym.

Ritchson has been featured in other roles that required a good amount of size, such as playing linebacker Thad Castle in Blue Mountain State. Here, Ritchson put together an impressive home gym and dedicated himself to maintaining a strict diet plan that focused on adding muscle and shredding his physique.

“People are going to eat like sh*t after they see this because I eat whatever the hell I want and I’m not kidding.

“I eat about every hour. I don’t know if they are like full meals, probably like four full meals.”

Ritchson was featured on Men’s Healthwhere he was able to discuss some of his eating habits, along with his routine in the gym.

Alan Ritchson Shares Habits In His Diet

Alan Ritchson discussed some different foods that are always in his fridge. This includes eggs and fruit but there are others as well. Ritchson highlighted his wife’s cooking skills, showing off her homemade turkey meatloaf.

“I always have a lot of eggs. That is my go-to breakfast. So we got a couple dozen here. Cage-free. We are polite to the chickens. Don’t look at the No-Baked cookie dough from a local bakery. I don’t stick spoons in that all day long. We do have a lot of cut fruit. We have three boys in the house. They love to dive into the fruit all the time.”

Ritchson admitted to eating what he wants most of the time, which is quite the opposite of what you would see most guys that look like this saying. This includes hot dogs, which Ritchson enjoys with mustard, onion, and chili. He also opted for key lime pie as his guilty pleasure.

Along with certain cheat meals, Ritchson has made sure to follow a balanced diet in his own way.

“This is my breakfast. Pre-made packs of oatmeal. I like a little variety in my life. I’ll take the apples and cinnamon or my favorite, maple and brown sugar.”

You take some cheese. I take two pieces of Swiss. You don’t want to overdo it. Take some turkey, you don’t want to overdo it. One little plop or two. The cheese is the break so you got a little flavor in the middle. You get your protein and you got your meat and cheese taco. I can eat 50 of these.”

In the gym, Alan Ritchson has committed to five days a week and this is how he was able to put on an incredible amount of muscle for his role in ‘Reacher.’ He does not overtrain, spending 30-40 minutes per workout. Ritchson prioritizes recovery and makes sure that he has ample time to do so.

Ritchson shared his post-workout protein shake:

  • Ice
  • Almond milk
  • Protein powder
  • 3 handfuls spinach
  • Peanut butter
  • Cacao
  • Avocado

This is a shake that is focused on muscle recovery. Sometimes Ritchson adds a banana and oats if he wants a little more substance.

“These are all-natural minerals and performance electrolytes. I swear to you, this saves my life.

Reacher has got to be big so I can bulk. I call it bulking constantly and just eat whatever I want. I do workout five days a week so I think I can get away with a lot of it.”

Overall, Alan Ritchson has quite the interesting diet! What do you think of it? For more news and updates, follow Generation Iron on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram.
