Arnold Schwarzenegger shared ways to recover from the effects of alcohol.

Arnold Schwarzenegger continues to train hard in the gym and focus on his health to this day. After a lifelong career in the fitness world, he knows a thing or two about how to improve. In his newsletter, Arnold’s Pump ClubSchwarzenegger is able to advise the next generation and give tips on different topics. Recently, he spoke on what could help cure a hangover and help shake off the effects of alcohol.

Schwarzenegger came to America and quickly gained attention due to his insane physique. This led to great success on the bodybuilding stage, including seven Olympia titles. In retirement, he has found success elsewhere but continues to focus on his health in and out of the gym.

During a recent edition of his newsletter, Schwarzenegger introduced a new feature called The Lab. This is where he can take on popular discussions and use science to answer the questions. First, it was about hangovers.

“If any amount of alcohol seems to leave you spinning the next day, it might not be all your fault. That’s because a gene (ALDH2) makes booze hit extra hard for some people.”

Schwarzenegger continued to provide information on what to eat to reverse the effects of alcohol the next day.

Arnold shared a study in his newsletter on how to live seven years longer.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Shares Hangover Cure

Just think about what your personal hangover cure is the next morning. It might be comprised of over-the-counter pain reliever and some of your favorite food. According to research provided by Arnold Schwarzenegger, these OTC reliefs are a “waste.”

“Instead, your best hangover defense is eating a combination of protein and fat before drinking (research suggests about 700 calories can do the trick) and downing water and electrolytes before bed.”

This information was part of 21 studies reviewed by researchers from Stanford University. Part of this research was naming products that could help if the suggestions above did not.

These include:

  • Korean pear juice
  • Red ginseng
  • Panax ginseng
  • I-cysteine

“If you want to do everything possible to kill your headache, have some caffeine and try consuming Vitamins B and C and zinc — all of which are depleted when you drink and could contribute to the pounding.”

The hangover cure is one that many have not perfected legitimately but have found methods that work well enough. Arnold Schwarzenegger is here to provide tips and share research based on science on how to improve — and this includes suggesting a cure for hangovers.
