Devin Haney will seek a no-contest following Ryan Garcia’s failed test.
There is already a small note next to Ryan Garcia’s victory over Devin Haney on April 20. Garcia missed weight ahead of the match and now, there is another wrinkle thrown into the overall storyline. On Wednesday night, multiple reports stated that Garcia tested positive for a banned substance ahead of the fight.
Long-time boxing reporter Dan Rafael was first with the news. He claims Garcia tested positive for Ostarine in a VADA test related to the fight. The two urine tests came on April 19 and following the match on April 20.

Haney will seek a no contest following the news of Garcia’s failed test. He now has 10 days to ask for B sample to be tested at his own expensive.

Ryan Garcia Tests Positive For PED
Ryan Garcia missed weight by 3.2 pounds ahead of the battle with Devin Haney. This made him ineligible to win the WBC junior welterweight championship. Haney retained the title despite losing by a majority decision. This was Garcia’s first shot at a title belt and will now have to wait even longer.
Following the news on Wednesday night, Garcia took to social media to deny this report.
“You guys can see fake news. Fake f*cking news. Don’t believe these f*ckers. I never f*cking took a steroid in my f*cking life. I don’t even know how that sh*t, it’s the weirdest sh*t ever.
Supposedly they had it already but they release it after I win? It makes no sense. I tested the day of the fight, nothing. Somebody paying somebody.”
This sample was allegedly taken before the fight and was just shared on Wednesday night. Now, we will wait and see if Ryan Garcia’s victory is overturned.
