CAN YOU HANDLE THIS MONSTER 1,000 REP LEG DAY CHALLENGE?

Generation Iron 1,000 rep leg day

Steve Cook taking leg day to the extreme.

Men’s Open weight bodybuilding has always been treating with a tremendous amount of adoration and respect by the fans. The division is filled with competitors who train day in and day out in order to grow their musculature yet still maintain a shredded physique. It’s truly a sight to behold as athletes put in the countless hours of work to more closely resemble characters straight out of a comic book.

That being said, it seems as if many fans believe that the athletes from other divisions, Men’s Physique for example, don’t work nearly as hard as the individuals in the Open weight division. They may be dedicated, they may be ripped and shredded, but they aren’t nearly as massive, which to some people translates as not working as hard.

It’s true that competitors in the Men’s Physique division may not be as massive as the athletes in the Open weight class, but they do have to watch their nutrition and train just as hard as anyone else, perhaps even more so. On the off season they need to bulk, but not so much that they lose their ripped conditioning. It’s a difficult task to manage like trying to maintain your balance while walking across a tightrope.

Physique competitors like Steve Cook have to push themselves past their limits just like any other bodybuilder. In fact, Cook recently completed a leg day training regimen that would destroy any normal man. No one is a fan of leg day with the usually 3 sets, 12 reps scheme. But what about a 1,000 rep leg day program? That kind of rep scheme seems completely unreal, yet Steve Cook was able to complete it through grit and determination. Take a look at Steve Cook’s impressive feat in the video below and get enlightened to the fact that Physique competitors are work themselves to the bone.
