Two stars of the Classic Physique division.

For as far back as fans can remember the heavyweight division in bodybuilding was the absolute pinnacle of the sport. Even having a great physique in a lighter weight class still couldn’t compare to those in the heavyweight division. Classic physiques were all about building up an impressive amount of muscle while at the same time maintaining great symmetry and balance. But as times changed so did the sport.

The heavyweight division now rebranded the open weight division started to feature mass monsters whose size boggled the mind. For a long while it was the premier division of bodybuilding and still is to this day. But fans have yearned for the physiques of yesteryear and so the Classic Physique division was born. With the new division came new prospects, bodybuilders with potential super stardom in their future. Two of those individuals are no doubt Chris Bumstead and Arash Rahbar.

While Chris Bumstead is the new kid on the block as far as professional competition experience, Arash Rahbar has proven himself to be a truly impressive bodybuilder and took second place at the 2016 Olympia in the Classic Physique division. This year however saw Rahbar take fourth while Chris Bumstead burst onto the scene with an impressive second place showing. Bumstead’s placing just showed exactly how competitive this new division of professional bodybuilding could be and we haven’t even scratched the surface of its true potential.

While Chris Bumstead and Arash Rahbar may be vying for the top spot in their division, essentially making the two rivals, it doesn’t mean that training together is completely out of the question.

First time at @bevsgym and things got heated??… More like I just happened to show up at the exact same time as @arash_rahbar and we both happened to be training chest????? Video coming soon so be ready?? Always good seeing the big man, until next time??

While the Open Weight division may still be the most popular, these two bodybuilders are proving that the Classic Physique division has the potential to explode in popularity.
