Jason Momoa Set to Star as Ripped Frosty the Snowman in Upcoming Film

Were you getting bored at home during quarantine? Were you praying for a reboot of a famous 1969 children’s film starring Jason Momoa as Frosty the Snowman to keep you entertained? If so, your oddly specific dreams have been answered!

Jason Momoa and his agent have announced that he plans to star as Frosty the Snowman in an upcoming but as of yet unnamed film. That’s right — the always jolly, pudgy, singing-and-dancing Frosty the Snowman will be played by Aquaman‘s own Jason Momoa. Momoa may seem like an odd choice for the role, given that he previously starred in more mature work like Game of Thrones and Justice League and also has a physique that would put many professional bodybuilders to shame.

In a recent interview with Variety, Momoa’s agent explained the decision to take the role was based more on Momoa’s “elemental” association as someone who’s done roles involving water, fire, etc. He thought it was the perfect time for Momoa to take on the snow. I mean, just imagine if the cartoon version of Frosty the Snowman you might remember from childhood had a version of Frosty that looked like this:

“From his role as a count in a land of ice and fire to the oceanic success we all had with ‘Aquaman,’ it felt only right to realize Jason this time in snow,” producer John Berg shared with Variety.

Not much has been revealed yet about the upcoming film project, except that Momoa’s role will be jointly captured in both live action and CGI. There have been a lot of CGI remakes of children’s movies in recent years — 2019’s The Lion King, a photorealistic CGI reproduction of Disney’s 1994 animated original, was even nominated for an Academy Award for visual effects.

It also follows a growing trend of actors who get into incredible shape to play movie roles because of their unparalleled access to personal trainers, nutritionists, and fitness experts. Jason Momoa, Chris Pratt, Kumail Nanjiani…all of them have a lot of money and a lot of access to personal trainers and 24/7 fitness guidance that many of us who work a 9-to-5 job may not have. That’s why these celebrity body transformations are always so incredibly unbelievable — they spend intense weeks or months in training and walk away with results that no average man could be expected to accomplish.

Jason Momoa has been elevated to the level of Hollywood superstar due to his roles on Game of Thrones and in huge tentpole hits like Aquaman. However, he wasn’t always such a superstar — he actually rose to fame after being discovered working part-time at a surf shop, which ultimately lead to his first TV role on Baywatch Hawaii. It’s tough to imagine such a brawny, brooding guy playing the jolly Frosty the Snowman, but only time will tell if Momoa has the acting chops to pull it off.
