Jason Momoa’s Aquaman Training Gets Lou Ferrigno’s Bodybuilding Seal Of Approval

Aquaman CAN be badass!

For bodybuilders there are tons of different things that can motivate them to get into the gym. Some athletes may be motivated by a bad break up which has them focused in the gym to work hard. For others it may be a prominent bodybuilder who has reached the pinnacle of their sport like an Arnold Schwarzenegger or a Ronnie Coleman. But a great many bodybuilding athletes more often than not have been influenced by comic book superheroes.

Batman, Superman, The Incredible Hulk, Wolverine, there have been tons of different characters that have been motivators for bodybuilders. The massive muscle and shredded physiques featured in comic books all seem unnatural, unattainable. At least that was the thought process years ago. These days anything is possible with the right training and the proper nutrition.

With films like Batman v Superman it’s become evident that actors who take on these iconic roles can’t simply just talk the talk, they must also walk the walk. Actors must put in the training in order resemble these characters both in their mannerisms and quirks, but physically as well. Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck needed to push themselves to lift weights, watch their nutrition, and push themselves past their limits in order to take on the roles of Superman and Batman respectively.

Now it looks like Jason Momoa is throwing his hat into the superhero ring. Momoa will be playing the role of Aquaman in the upcoming Justice League film and to prepare himself for the role the actor has been training hard. No stranger to putting in work at the gym as he needed to for the role of Kal Drogo from Game of Thrones and Conan The Barbarian, it looks like just another day in the office for Jason Momoa. Check out some of the training Momoa has put into the gym.

It might be easy to scoff at the “badassery” of Aquaman. He’s been the butt of superhero jokes for many decades – but it seems this won’t be too big of an issue when you look at the combination of the new “dark” DC movie universe along with the casting choice of Jason Momoa. This video goes a long way to show us that this won’t be your friendly neighborhood Aquaman.

And don’t just take our word for it – Lou Ferrigno’s seen the training video too and finds it all “very impressive.” In our book that means a lot – coming from one superhero actor to another. Lou Ferrigno knows what kind of training it takes to get into massive superhero shape. Check out his reaction in the video below:
