Lee Haney Releases New Book For Aging Athletes

Golden Era kingpin Lee Haney gives awesome tips to defy age with fitness.

Legendary bodybuilder Lee Haney won eight consecutive Mr. Olympia titles from 1984 to 1991 and to this day remains tied with Ronnie Coleman for most Olympia wins ever. Throughout his career, Haney sought a larger audience, even serving as Chairman to the President’s Council on Fitness during the Clinton administration.

Now at age 58 Haney has released a book, Fit At Any Age, in which he offers strategies for people later in life who want to get fit and improve their bodies

Throughout his career, Haney preached smart training with quotes like “train to stimulate, not annihilate,” and in this book, he will expand on the ideas of smarter training for older populations who are more prone to injury and unlikely do not harbor competitive goals.

Fit at Any Age provides Haney’s look at holistic health, including exercise and nutrition plans, motivation tips, and stress management tactics.

In addition to the book, Haney will also offer online support for his readers at his personal website leehaney.com. The resources will include articles, an exercise library, and client spotlight stories.

The primary objective of Fit at Any Age is help the latter years of life be as healthy and exciting as the earlier ones through fitness.

Fit at Any Age is now available in paperback at Amazon and Barnes & Nobles, and eBooks through Kindle, Nook and Kobo.

Female Bodybuilder Crystal Fontaine Will Be Honored Posthumously

Remembering Crystal Fontaine.

On Saturday, May 12, a category and trophy in Crystal Fontaine’s name will be presented at the Nova Scotia Physique Championships at Casino Nova Scotia. Crystal was a mother to four boys and decorated bodybuilding competitor. In February she was diagnosed with adrenocortical carcinoma, an aggressive form of cancer, and passed away on March 25 at the age of 40.

James Stone, Fontaine’s partner and fellow bodybuilder told the Dartmouth Tribune.

“Right into the last day, in the few sentences she spoke to me, she still wanted to go ‘balls to the wall.’”

Fontaine’s started experiencing fatigue and back pain around the time her mother passed away in 2017. Early this year, she finally went to a walk in clinic, where tests revealed low hemoglobin. The back pain worsened until Stone took her to the ER where she received the cancer diagnosis.

Fontaine’s first competition in a 2014 Figure class qualified her for the provincials, where a subsequent performance catapulted her to nationals. In November 2016, she competed again at provincials, this time in Women’s Physique. She won the category and best overall. Then at provincials in 2017 she took second, then third three months later at the Flex Lewis Canadian Classic.

Stone has received several posthumous honors for Fontaine already, including first-place medal for the women’s physique category at the Masteries Naturals Classic, a show Fontaine was training for when she was diagnosed with cancer.

He said Fontaine’s bodybuilding ethos informed every aspect of her life.

“She gave just as much in her everyday life as she did in her sport. She liked when folks from the community would talk with her, or even just reference her. Any mention of her, she was flattered. I can imagine, if she saw any of the stuff happening in the last little bit, she’d be floored.”

Regan Grimes is looking like championship material.

Ever since returning from his stay out in Kuwait, Regan Grimes has received a ton of flack. Regan Grimes eventually decided that working with Chris Aceto was the right fit for him and has been pushing himself hard ever since. While he joked around about dropping to Classic Physique and has even looked a bit undersized in recent months leading up to the NY Pro, it appears that Regan Grimes has been taking his training very seriously.

While the doubters have come out in full effect, saying that Regan Grimes doesn’t have what it takes to dominate at the NY Pro, the young bodybuilder has been hard a work perfecting his physique and it shows in his recent Instagram video.
