Before YouTube… there was the FLEX training series.

There’s a difference between working hard and working smart. Many may not give it much consideration to that fact, but nonetheless it’s a lesson that every bodybuilder must learn. There was a time when a lifter went to the gym, picked up some heavy weights and started lifting with a game plan or any other thought in their mind than “train hard, lift heavy!” That’s a great way to get yourself injured, particularly if you’re a beginner with suspect form.

There’s a reason why so many people subscribe to the ideology of following a professional athletes training program. Sure, you may not be at their level yet, but it’s a great jumping on point for someone who hasn’t worked out a day in their life. Even for veterans of lifting watching a implementing a professionals technique and form during their training is going to be a real benefit. The professionals have been training for years and as evidenced by their physiques have been doing everything right on the road to attaining the ultimate form.

The old school pros were known for their work ethic, attention to detail, and superior technique. Shawn Ray and Flex Wheeler were two IFBB pros who had physiques that could have netted them an Olympia title during their heyday. Though Dorian Yates may have been considered the king during that era of bodybuilding, many felt that both Ray and Wheeler deserved to champs in their own right as their physiques not only rivaled the Olympia champ but may have even surpassed it. But despite never being able to capture Olympia titles, both men acquitted themselves well and proved that they were outstanding champions in their own right.

These two had a specific way if training to maximize their results and really cultivate physiques of greatness. For those looking to begin their lifting journey or even veterans looking to clean up their technique, take a look at the video below to get some sage wisdom from two professionals with a wealth of knowledge and the muscle to back up all their claims.
