Watch the official trailer for Generation Iron Persia coming this December 2022

Generation Iron Network has officially released the exclusive first look trailer to Generation Iron Persia. The new documentary will explore the lives of four Iranian professional bodybuilders each on a journey to compete on the world’s premiere bodybuilding stage and overcome the major challenges athletes face in Iran during major protests and human rights violations in the country. While there is no exact release date announced, the network confirms the film will be coming out this month in December 2022.

Over the past few decades, Iranian athletes have been on the rise in the sport of bodybuilding. The sport is highly valued in the middle east, in some ways more so than in western countries such as the United States or the UK. Iranian athletes who compete at big shows such as the Mr. Olympia come home to parades and, in Hadi Choopan’s case, a statue being erected in his honor.

While there has always been a strong love for bodybuilding present in pro bodybuilding, the past decade truly showed a rise of talented athletes. Oxygen Gym in Kuwait became a new sort of mecca for the sport – producing truly powerful bodybuilders. This drove athletes from other countries such as the US to move out towards the gyms for bursts of contest prep. Hadi Choopan’s rise to success and switch to the Men’s Open is a particular shining light. He most recently placed third place at the 2021 Olympia competition.

Generation Iron Persia will document this most recent rise, while also looking back at the history of Iranian bodybuilders. Featuring athletes such as King Kamali, Hadi Choopan, the late Isaac Ghavidel, Abtin Shekarabi, and Maryam Bamdad – a diverse selection of viewpoints and personal journeys will be showcased. Each major subject in the film training towards a championship title.

Generation Iron Persia follows four Iranian bodybuilders at different stages of their competitive career as they prepare for their next competition.

Each with their own struggle. Each with their own story to tell. These bodybuilders each show the indomitable spirit of Iran. The Olympia is an international event and has become an opportunity to be seen and heard,
