On the edge of war between US and Iran, will Hadi Choopan’s future be forever changed?
On January 3rd, 2020, the United States ordered a drone strike that killed Iranian general Qasem Soleimani. This led to tensions of war followed by a missile strike by Iran on an Iraq military base housing US troops. President Trump addressed the nation today stating he would increase sanctions on Iran but does not want to go to war – still tensions are high and many across the world fear this could ignite a war. With Iranian bodybuilder Hadi Choopan finally getting his visa and competing at the 2019 Olympia… will this new political tension change Hadi’s future?
Generation Iron sat down with King Kamali to discuss his take on the current events involving Iran, whether he thinks we are heading to war, and if these new developments will change Hadi Choopan’s chances for competing again in the United States. Many fans hope to see Hadi compete again on US soil so he can continue to rise up and potentially take first place victories in the Men’s Open. After many years of not being able to face off against top US contenders – many were excited to see Hadi show off what he can do (getting third place at the Olympia). But will it be cut short? Will that be the last time we see him at the Olympia?
