AFTER WINS AT UFC ON FOX 19, WHAT’S NEXT FOR KHABIB AND ROSE?

khabib and rose headerSmells like a title shots are on the horizon.

UFC on FOX 19 was a pretty eye opening event. We saw veteran stars fall, fresh faces rise, and some future title hopefuls make their cases for a shot at the champion in their respective divisions. With so much talent on display there’s no doubt that fans will want to be seeing more of streaking Rose Namajunas and the undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov. Rose Namajunas put on a tremendous performance against Tecia Torres, proving that she has grown a tremendous amount since her defeat at the hands of former Strawweight champion Carla Esparza. Her overall MMA game has been nothing short of amazing, transitioning from striking to clinching to wrestling to grappling and back again, all of it with consummate ease and the poise of a true wunderkind. 3342363700000578-3544176-image-a-18_1460884877330 If there’s one word to sum up Rose Namajunas’ recent performances it would certainly have to be maturity. Rose has proven that she has a game that’s dangerous enough to contend with the current champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk. While Rose is awaiting the winner of the Jedrzejczyk and Clausia Gadelha bout, she should sit back and improve upon her lofty skill set. At such a young age and with so much time in front of her, Namajunas is sure to look like a completely different beast between every fight. A title shot should be next, but if she wanted to take a fight to keep busy it’s a fair bet that she’d likely come out of most any contest victorious. Screen-Shot-2016-04-17-at-15.34.55-800x445 Khabib Nurmagomedov may have defeated an unheralded opponent in Darrell Horcher, but that doesn’t change the fact that the Russian holds a victory over the current Lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos. The Horcher bout proved to be a clean up fight in which Khabib could simply stay sharp. Now that he has come out victorious the next likely option will be a bout against the winner of the Rafael dos Anjos and Eddie Alvarez tilt. But just in case he doesn’t want to wait, it would make complete sense if he fought against his original opponent for UFC on FOX 19, Tony Ferguson. Either way, it’s looking very likely that Nurmagomedov isn’t going anywhere any time soon and could find himself ruling over the division shortly. What did you think of UFC on FOX 19? DANA WHITE ANNOUNCES ROBBIE LAWLER’S NEXT FIGHT

Robbie Lawler header

Drumroll please…

It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Robbie Lawler. After his 5 round wars with Carlos Condit and Rory Macdonald, it’s no wonder the welterweight champion needed a little vacation…well vacation over. During an episode of “Looking For a Fight” UFC President Dana White went on AXS TV and revealed that Robbie Lawler’s next opponent will be Tyron Woodley. The wrestler and now tv personality will face the brawler Robbie Lawler at either UFC 201 in August or UFC 202. Tyron Woodley is coming off of a year lay off with his last bout being cancelled against Johnny Hendrix, the bout before that ended early after Carlos Condit suffered a knee injury. Whether you think Tyron Woodley has a chance or not, you’ve got to admit it’s fair as Tyron has had a couple of tough breaks with his last opponents.  On top of that, Steven “Wonderboy” Thompson and Rory Macdonald are all tied up with their UFC Ottawa fight on June 8th. Will Carlos Condit retire? I hope not, but with this news the Lawler vs. Condit 2 fight seems further and further away. One would have to think that if “Wonderboy can somehow win his fight in June, he’d be next in line for the strap. What do you think of the Welterweight picture? Hit us up with your thoughts below.

LEE PRIEST RANTS AGAINST RICH PIANA’S 30 LBS MUSCLE GAIN

Generation Iron Lee Priest vs Rich Piana

Generation Iron Lee Priest vs Rich Piana

Lee has more than a few things to say about Rich Piana.

As an athlete entering into their twilight years it’s often difficult to know exactly when you should hang it up and reduce your training in a manner that will support your age and health. Most people find it hard to quit whatever sporting endeavor they’ve chosen. Competing at a high level often leaves retired athletes restless, aimless, looking for a way to experience their former glory. But even if you were never a competitive athlete in your chosen sport, there’s no doubt going to be lingering feelings of wanton, of things left unfinished and unaccomplished. From the sounds of it, that could be the very problem Rich Piana is facing currently.

[/wptouch]
.

Recently Piana has been on a mission to gain more muscle, 30 pounds of it to be exact, all of it within a four month period. Many fans and experts who have caught wind of Piana’s plan have had their own thoughts and opinions on the endeavor. Many have stated that Rich, who is already considerably muscled, has made a grave mistake that very well could be harmful to his well being. At his current age, it would almost seem futile to gain anymore muscle at this point.

Rich Piana is up there in age and to think that he actually wanted to gain more size, despite the fact that he’s already a massive man, could have been one of the more detrimental decisions he’s ever made in his life. But don’t take our word for it. Lee Priest has his own opinions on whether or not Rich Piana’s decision to gain even more muscle was truly a great idea.

Do you think Lee Priest has a point about Rich Piana’s latest venture?

GI Weekly: Top 5 Bodybuilding Competition Fails Of All Time

Strength Wars Movie

Fails big enough for the whole world to see.

GI Weekly always ends off with a workout fail of the week. Why? Because it’s funny and maybe, just maybe, teaches us not to be an idiot in the gym. Most bodybuilders who take themselves seriously don’t have these kinds of fails though. The gym is our temple – we take lifting seriously. Yet still, that doesn’t mean we are all perfect. Sometimes things happen. Sometimes people make mistakes… and sometimes bodybuilders make these mistakes on the posing stage in front of a crowd and the judges.

UFC ON FOX 19: TEIXEIRA VS EVANS BREAKDOWN

evans vs teixeira headerUFC on FOX 19 may have undergone a transformation, but the event is still one to behold.

With fight cancellations left and right, UFC on FOX 19 is a card that looks entirely different than it did in it’s inception. Nevertheless, the show must go on and there are plenty of great fights to still be had on this jam packed card, so let’s get to it.

Light Heavyweights

Evans-vs-Teixeira  Rashad Evans (19-4-1) vs. Glover Teixeira (24-4) The new main event of UFC on FOX 19 features a Light Heavyweight contest against two top ten contenders. Where Glover Teixeira is on a two fight win streak, Rashad Evans is looking to get back on track and get a much needed victory. Teixeira has some dynamite in his fist with a decent counter wrestling game. Before he was injured Evans had speed, power, and powerful takedowns and he’s going to need it in this fight. With five rounds to work and so many opportunities on the feet, the safe pick is Teixeira by TKO in the third round, but don’t be surprised if Evans is able to pull off a tactical game plan to net a decision.

Women’s Strawweights

001_Rose_Namajunas_and_Tecia_Torres-e1454618110688 Rose Namajunas (4-2) vs. Tecia Torres (7-0) The co-main event features two women’s Strawweights that are both on a hot streak. Pound for pound this may be the most important fight on the entire card as this is both a rematch and an indicator of who the next title challenger may be. Rose Namajunas has a great striking game, but she mixes all her other skills together so well that you’re likely to see her do everything in this bout. Tecia Torres is also well rounded, opting to take fights down or keep them standing depending on the opponent. But Torres won’t have the opportunity to exploit any of Namajunas’ weaknesses simply because Rose is just too difficult to deal with on the ground. Ever since losing to Carla Esparza, Namajunas has made it a mission to be not only dangerous on the feet but in all facets of the game. Torres may have won their first encounter, but Namajunas is a completely different beast since that loss. Look for Namajunas to frustrate Torres everywhere this fight goes to secure a unanimous decision victory.

Lightweights

YIl3Z2IVfaIKhabib Nurmagomedov (22-0) vs. Darrell Horcher (12-1) It was sad to see the original main event of UFC on FOX 19 get scrapped, nevertheless fans still have the opportunity to see Khabib Nurmagomedov in action against Darrell Horcher. The real drama of this fight is that Nurmagomedov is risking everything to take this bout with the newcomer Horcher. 8c0e6cd88c2a6cdce70ac6bf84198aeeIf Khabib wins it does little to raise his stock, but if he loses then all hopes of a title shot will disappear. Fortunately for the Russian, Horcher is an opponent somewhat tailor made for him; a striker with decent wrestling but nothing on the level of Nurmagomedov. Look for the undefeated Sambo specialist to outwork Horcher with a varied attack include powerful punches and relentless wrestling to nab a decision. Agree with the predictions? CAMP EXOS: HOW THE UFC PLANS TO MAKE FIGHT INJURIES A THING OF THE PAST

Exos

If it’s broke, fix it.

2016 has been a mixed bag to say the least, from the rise of Miesha Tate to the fall of Conor McGregor, it’s been a lot of ups and downs. One thing that has been an habitual downer however, is the plague of injuries. Since the year started there has been 11 main and co-main event injuries, which is right on track with the 42 in 2015. With the recent pullout of Daniel Cormier and Tony Ferguson from their respective cards (UFC 197 and UFC on FOX 19) Lorenzo Fertitta and the UFC knew something had to change. That  change seemed to involve a one year deal with Athlete training and conditioning  center “EXOS”. Maxhollowayworkout Exos is a state of the art, expansive 31,000 sq-foot training facility located in uptown Phoenix, Arizona. No stranger to big time athletes, the center trains athletes from the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, PGA, as well as the armed forces. Founded in 1999 by Mark Verstegen, a 15-year Performance Director for the NFL Players Association, the center has on-site specialists in nutrition, strength and conditioning, and physical therapy. The  training regimens are customized for each sport – with MMA being focused  on balance and functionality through circuit training. To kick off the partnership – UFC Director of Athlete Development James Kimball sent 4 UFC fighters (Max Holloway, Kelvin Gastelum, Kamaru Usman, and Paul Felder) to the world renown strength and conditioning camp for an all inclusive, 2 a day, week long boot camp. The first of many – Kimball is planning to host trips at least once a month with up to 6 fighters in order to keep the coach to fighter ratio in check. Rich Franklin was there to oversee the young fighters, weighing in on the new approach to training. “I was surprised,” admits Griffin. “Even a guy like Rashad (Evans), who’s been around for years and had access to great strength coaches his whole career, a lot of things were new to him. I was just surprised at his level — a champion, he’s had so many big fights in his career — he’s still newer to strength and conditioning than I would have thought. I think it’s just a difference of, you know, a lot of guys never asked why. Coaches told them to do something and they just did it.” “You’ve seen the circuits Wanderlei (Silva) used to do, right? They’re f*cking badass. They’re fun. They’re awesome. I love them. I still do them today. But it’s not good for you. It’s stupid. You’re going to take damage doing this sport. Why not keep the damage in the Octagon, as opposed to in the weight room? Guys getting hurt, torn up, beat up in the gym — that’s just dumb. You’re in there to get better at your sport.” onelegexos It seems like old school, grind it out, training is a thing of the past – a new streamlined and scientific approach seems to be the new direction of the UFC. While I’m all about new and innovative, there’s something to be said about the training of old. The thing about that type of training is that not only did it test your physical strength but also your mental. Men wanted to see how far their heart and spirit would take them when their bodies no longer would. They wanted to see how much pain they could take and still go on. A warrior’s spirit. This is why many of us still watch – not just to see the best skilled, but who can take adversity and endure. In a new era of highly skilled martial artists, the standouts will be the hybrids – the will of a Nogueira brother with the martial arts skills of a “Wonderboy” Thompson…now that’s scary. Chime in with your thoughts on the new EXOS training center below. Catch the full story at MMA Fighting.

FAN REVIEW: ELITE LABS MASS MUSCLE GAINER DOUBLE RICH CHOCOLATE

Generation Iron Elite Labs Fan Review

Generation Iron Elite Labs Fan Review

Does Mass Muscle Gainer hold up to fan scrutiny?

Below is a product review of Elite Lab’s Mass Muscle Gainer supplement, specifically the Double Rich Chocolate flavor. But instead of coming straight from our mouths or from Elite Labs themselves… this is from someone an “average Joe” who used it himself and decided to write up a review about it. You can check it out right here:

The Biggest Muscle Mass Gaining product out on the block…. Srs… Look how big this thing is… makes a 4lb tub look like a cookie jar.

Elite Labs Mass Muscle Gainer

Taste: 10/10

20lb is a big commitment, so you would hope to god that this product is going to taste good…

I can tell you now that, Elitelabs Muscle Mass Gainer, will not disappoint. Double dark chocolate is an absolute delight. True to its name, it is rich in Coco, and has a superb chocolate taste.

I have tried samples of IA Hard Mass, and the Myofusion Real Mass, but they ain’t got nothing on flavour compared to this one. Dat dere is premium quality.

If you liked the taste of Hyperwhey Chocolate Supreme, this is very similar, a tad bit sweeter and thicker. You would love this.

Consistency/mix ability: 9/10

Mixes reasonably well for a mass gainer. 2 scoops to around 600ml of water. Consistency is perfect, no dry clumps or floaties, may have some Coco left over at the end (see pic)

Viscosity is slightly thicker than hyper whey. IMO not as thick as the Myofusion Real mass or IA hard mass. I would recommend using a spring ball with the shaker, if you don’t have one, Ice cubes will suffice.

Elite Labs

I usually do 2 scoops post work out, and two scoops either around mid-afternoon (3pm) or either just before bed.

In this case, I did two scoops plus double shot Nespresso Coffee. Chocolate Mocha STIMGAINER anyone?

Formula: 9/10

Suggested serving size is 4 scoops which equates to around 255g.

The formula is cleaner and leaner, compared to some of the other competitors out there.

It was great getting a few samples of mass gainers with my purchases from Xplosiv’s.  It allowed me to test how my body reacted to each product, before I made my final decision.

From the sample of IA Hard Mass, my body did not fully agree, I had bloats and made me gassy, however I did like the taste and consistency wasn’t too bad.

With Myofusion Real Mass, it went down quite well; still a little bloating, but I did not enjoy the taste/consistency as much as the IA.

However, with this product I took a long shot, and after reading Hiro’s review, I was quite convinced that this was the right product for me. I really liked the macro profile, and If it tasted anything like Hyper Whey I knew I was IN.

So far I have not had any stomach upsets, and no bloats unless I mix with milk. It also does not feel as filling as some of the other gainers out there.

[wptouch target=”mobile”]

[/wptouch]
[wptouch target=”non-mobile”]
[/wptouch]

Overall: 9/10

I am very happy with this product at the moment; the profile is spot on, and looks cleaner and leaner to some of the competitor out there.

I am not a hard gainer, but I defiantly feel that I lack the calories due to busy lifestyle. So I am not religiously taking this to mega bulk, but using this to assist my calorie uptake to around 3500 cal per day.

The only down side I see to this product is the price. Premium indeed, it took me a wee while to try and save up for this. I was almost tempted to purchase Hard Mass on special, despite my body not agreeing.  But I am glad I chose this product.

IMO it pays to buy premium sometimes, especially if you are going to commit to it for a long time, there is nothing worse than taking supplements that you despise, but doing it because you have paid for it.

I will continue to take this over the next month or so, and report back, hopefully with some gains!
