AFTER WINS AT UFC ON FOX 19, WHAT’S NEXT FOR KHABIB AND ROSE?

khabib and rose headerSmells like a title shots are on the horizon.

UFC on FOX 19 was a pretty eye opening event. We saw veteran stars fall, fresh faces rise, and some future title hopefuls make their cases for a shot at the champion in their respective divisions. With so much talent on display there’s no doubt that fans will want to be seeing more of streaking Rose Namajunas and the undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov. Rose Namajunas put on a tremendous performance against Tecia Torres, proving that she has grown a tremendous amount since her defeat at the hands of former Strawweight champion Carla Esparza. Her overall MMA game has been nothing short of amazing, transitioning from striking to clinching to wrestling to grappling and back again, all of it with consummate ease and the poise of a true wunderkind. 3342363700000578-3544176-image-a-18_1460884877330 If there’s one word to sum up Rose Namajunas’ recent performances it would certainly have to be maturity. Rose has proven that she has a game that’s dangerous enough to contend with the current champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk. While Rose is awaiting the winner of the Jedrzejczyk and Clausia Gadelha bout, she should sit back and improve upon her lofty skill set. At such a young age and with so much time in front of her, Namajunas is sure to look like a completely different beast between every fight. A title shot should be next, but if she wanted to take a fight to keep busy it’s a fair bet that she’d likely come out of most any contest victorious. Screen-Shot-2016-04-17-at-15.34.55-800x445 Khabib Nurmagomedov may have defeated an unheralded opponent in Darrell Horcher, but that doesn’t change the fact that the Russian holds a victory over the current Lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos. The Horcher bout proved to be a clean up fight in which Khabib could simply stay sharp. Now that he has come out victorious the next likely option will be a bout against the winner of the Rafael dos Anjos and Eddie Alvarez tilt. But just in case he doesn’t want to wait, it would make complete sense if he fought against his original opponent for UFC on FOX 19, Tony Ferguson. Either way, it’s looking very likely that Nurmagomedov isn’t going anywhere any time soon and could find himself ruling over the division shortly. What did you think of UFC on FOX 19?
