While a great deal of the classic exercises will do the trick for the most part, changing up the routine certainly doesn’t hurt the situation. For instance, to develop the biceps most people just stick to the basics and perform traditional curls. A tried and true exercise to say the least. But sometimes challenging your muscles is more important than just performing the motion.

The guillotine curl.

This exercise challenges the bicep muscles. Doing the usual bicep curls means tension diminishes at the top of the lift when the weight is lifted from the bottom position at your side up until reaching the chest. The guillotine curl requires the individual to lie flat on a bench, utilizing the cable curl with the straight bar attachment, and curling it down towards your face. The tension increases when the cable pulls down towards the body. Holding onto that tension for a couple of seconds will give your biceps a wicked burn.
