AEW Wrestler PAC dies, Shocking Pro Wrestling Community
Professional wrestling star Benjamin Satterley, better known as PAC in AEW and Neville during his run with WWE, has died at the age of 40.
All Elite Wrestling announced Satterley’s death on Sunday, Sept. 27. The shocking news came just one day after PAC competed at AEW All Out on Saturday, Sept. 26, where he challenged Andrade El Idolo for the AEW National Championship.
AEW did not disclose a cause of death in its announcement.
“All Elite Wrestling is saddened to announce the passing of Benjamin Satterley, aka Pac,” the company said in a statement.
The timing of Satterley’s death makes the news particularly stunning. PAC opened the All Out main card against Andrade at the NOW Arena outside Chicago. Andrade ultimately retained the championship after countering PAC’s Brutalizer submission attempt into a pin.
PAC later appeared again during the evening’s main event between Will Ospreay and Jon Moxley.
PAC Became A WWE Star As Neville
Before becoming one of AEW’s most recognizable performers, Satterley became known to millions of wrestling fans through his run in WWE as Adrian Neville, and later simply Neville.
The Newcastle upon Tyne native signed with WWE in 2012 and emerged as one of the early stars of the company’s revamped NXT developmental brand.
Known for combining an exceptionally muscular physique with elite aerial ability, Neville earned the nickname “The Man That Gravity Forgot.” His signature Red Arrow finishing move became one of the most recognizable high-flying maneuvers in WWE.
Neville captured the NXT Championship in 2014 and also held the NXT Tag Team Championship before making his WWE main-roster debut in March 2015.
He later reinvented himself as the self-proclaimed “King of the Cruiserweights.” Neville defeated Rich Swann at the 2017 Royal Rumble to capture the WWE Cruiserweight Championship and would ultimately become a two-time champion.
Satterley departed WWE in 2018 before eventually joining the newly formed All Elite Wrestling.
PAC Became One Of AEW’s Most Physically Impressive Stars
Satterley joined AEW in 2019 and returned to the PAC name he had used before WWE.
Throughout his AEW career, PAC remained instantly recognizable because of his combination of a shredded, heavily muscled physique and extraordinary athleticism. Despite standing around 5-foot-8, he possessed the strength and muscular development of a much larger wrestler while continuing to perform high-risk aerial moves such as his signature Black Arrow.
PAC became the inaugural AEW All-Atlantic Champion in 2022 and also captured the AEW World Trios Championship. He competed as part of Death Triangle alongside Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fénix and later became associated with the Death Riders.
Satterley began his professional wrestling career in 2004 and competed around the world before reaching WWE and AEW.
AEW remembered him for the athletic ability that defined his more than two-decade career.
“A native of Newcastle upon Tyne, England, Satterley began his wrestling career in 2004 and went on to perform for wrestling organizations all over the world, captivating fans with innovative high-flying moves and incredible in-ring ability,” AEW said.
Satterley was only 40 years old. As of Monday, no cause of death has been publicly announced.
