Agata Sitko set new records in the bench press, deadlift, and overall total.
Agata Sitko is one of the best women’s powerlifters on the planet right now and she keeps getting better. Sitko returned to the Sheffield Powerlifting Championships on Sunday and turned in a record-setting performance on her way to a second consecutive title. Sitko set new marks in the u69kg in the bench press, deadlift, and total.
At 22 years old, Sitko has already totaled 22 powerlifting championships. She has competed in a total of 32 sanctioned competitions. She is now multi-time champion at the Sheffield Powerlifting Championships and holds multiple world records in her division. Sitko is already off to a quick start in 2025 after her performance this weekend.
Agata Sitko Sets Multiple World Records At Meet
Agata Sitko’s performance began with squats. She completed three successful lifts leading up to a final lift of 210kg (462.9lb). From there, she moved onto her first record, which was bench press.
Regardless of if the goal is powerlifting or bodybuilding, while many people take the right step of incorporating the compound exercise in their training program, only a few take out the time to learn the correct way of performing the squats.
Sitko loaded up the bar with 150kg (330.7lb) as a bit of a warmup before eventually attempting the u69kg world record. The third and final lift was 158kg (348.3lb). Sitko outdid her lift from last season, which was the previous record at 154kg (339.5lb).
The bench press is an essential upper body exercise that works as mass and strength builder for chest that you should be doing. However, it is something that is often performed incorrectly, and ironically, most people’s bad bench press form is due to the fact that they think the exercise to be too simple. They think that the bench press consists of just lowering the weight to your chest, and raising it back up. As a result they don’t take the time to learn technique the way that they do with moves like the squat or deadlift.
The barbell deadlift is often seen as the single most effective exercise in your training tool-box. The deadlift is a true full body exercise. While most people would consider it a “back” exercise, and others will argue that it’s a “leg” exercise; in my book, it really is an everything exercise, which is not a bad thing. However, if the deadlift is performed incorrectly, it is nothing but a back injury waiting to happen. In this article I’m going to break down exactly what the deadlift is and how to properly execute it for a strong back.
In the deadlift, Sitko completed two out of three lifts. She reached the world record in her second attempt, a 260kg (573.2lb) triumph, before attempting to tack on extra weight. The final lift was unsuccessful at 269kg (593lb).
Total
Agata Sitko’s total performance added up to a record of 628kg (1,384.5lb). Sitko also helped the previous record, which was set last year. During Sitko’s run to a title at the 2024 Sheffield title, she logged a total of 600kg (1,322.8lb).
Sitko has set marks that will be difficult to beat in her division. There will definitely be eyes on her around this time next year to see if she is able to complete the three-peat at the Sheffield Championships but until then, she will work to improve further and add even more to her resume.
