A true threat to the Flex Lewis.

The 2016 Olympia is right around the corner and with it comes a ton of interesting match ups in several different categories of bodybuilding. While many eyes are focused on the open weight division, the Men’s 212 division is likely to get a fair share of attention as well. The division features one of the most talented champions in any of the divisions of bodybuilding, James “Flex” Lewis. The reigning Olympia king is touted to take home another Sandow this year, but Ahmad Ashkanani’s performance at the Tampa Pro this weekend shows a competitor that could potentially threaten Flew Lewis’ reign.

Ahmad Ashkanani took first place at the Tampa pro with some hefty competition along the way. He won through having a combination of poise, confidence, conditioning, and solid musculature. It was a truly impressive showing to say the least. Ashkanani may not be the first name that comes to mind when you think of potential rivals for Flex Lewis. But there’s no doubting that Ahmad is an absolute freak with a tremendous amount of potential. He has size, proportions, and some freaky vascularity that gives him a unique look.

Here are a couple of great shots taken by the talented @mdozaphotography of the Tampa Pro 212 Championship Top 3: (Left to Right) Bola Ojex (2nd), @ahmd_ashkanani (1st) and @mikeergasifbbpro (3rd). While I think Ahmad was the clear winner, I had Mike in a solid 2nd from all of the pix I saw. Nothing against Bola, who looked great…I just thought Mike looked harder and more balanced. I like his flow. Like Ahmad, he’s also a very Herculean Bodybuilder…just a very rugged and powerful look! I was very impressed today by both Ahmad and Mike. I also am impressed with my buddy Hector Mendoza! Hector is in Tampa taking photos for MD and MD Latino! Great gig!
